  13. Roy, Thanks much for your comments about the CWIS at McGill.
  14. I just came away from another network interest group meeting this
  15. afternoon where we went another round toward installing, creating, etc. a
  16. College network.  This, I hope, will include a CWIS.  I definitely want to
  17. have it offer direct access to the library resources.  (We're an LRS
  18. here!)  The very issue you addresses about who manages and controls the
  19. information etc. was at the heart of our discussion this afternoon.  I
  20. think that we need to begin to look at urging our admin. to make some
  21. changes at the top to accomodate a  VP for information and technology or
  22. the like.  I just don't see a committee that passes major decisions
  23. affecting every devpt. and level in an institutioon (here we have 6
  24. campuses which more and more function as separate institutions!) with a
  25. handshake and good will.  This type of product is too powerful to not have
  26. some eventual fisticuffs.  Your points and ideas are well taken, and I
  27. thank you!
