  21. Well, it would be fun to talk about less known stuff than the likes of 
  22. Metallica, Slayer, Danzig, Def Leppard, etc., but those seem to be the only
  23. heavy metal bands anyone knows. Ever hear of Desolation Angels? Blood?
  24. Hellhammer? Tank? Venom? Angel Witch? Evil? Satan? You haven't? Well, maybe
  25. you should reread your post and get into less mainstream nonconformist
  26. metal. Not that I have anything against the bands I mention, but just that
  27. everyone seems expected to like them and it's almost automatically assumed
  28. that if you like heavy metal you would like Metallica et al, which isn't
  29. necessarily true but taken to be so.

  35. Nothing wrong with spandex, but from what I get out of what you say, yes, it's
  36. the music that matters, not what the band looks like. Well, I don't give a fuck
  37. what the band looks like so long as they can play. I don't even care if they're
  38. posers as far as media attention, etc., so long as they can support their
  39. claims to greatness with what they can play. Lots of great bands wore spandex.

  42. And finally, what's there to say about death and grind? SOmeone asks "What's
  43. goingone with" or "Who is" __<insert death / grind band here__ and always
  44. there's a reply and then nothing more is said. Everyone who responds seem to
  45. like it, and those who don't like death and grind seem to just ignore those
  46. posts, so there's not much discussion that can be gotten out of something
  47. that doesn't seem so controvertial. It would be nice to get into other topics
  48. other than the Metallica/GNR show, why GNR is a great/lousy band, is Def 
  49. Leppard really heavy metal after all, stuff like that. I think the topics are
  50. getting dry now, but there's not much to argue when everyone more or less
  51. agrees on who they like or don't like.  Anyway that's how I see it.

  53. And one more thing. If you really want to be technical, death and grind aren't
  54. really heavy metal. I personally don't care what gets discussed in this group,
  55. so long as here the bands mentioned use a distortion pedal somewhere in their
  56. music. Heavy metal does not translate into "bands I like that wimps don't 
  57. like."
