  13. I changed fields about four years ago..from the manufacturing side of
  14. medical electronics to marketing/sales of medicines.  I got a career
  15. counselor to help me.  But it was too expensive in retrospect.  It cost me
  16. a good $3000 (Visa/Mastercard..I really wanted out of that old job!).
  17. They were not a total scam however.  They got me into "informational
  18. interviewing" as a means of networking and gathering information about
  19. places I might like to actually work at.  The also did a lot of interest
  20. testing and so on.  When I finally got to the actual job interview stage they
  21. coached me through the negotiation process.  It turned out to be an
  22. excellent move.  If I were to do it again I would hire the best $100/hr
  23. career counselor around..one who knew my field and had connections.  I think
  24. it would wind up being a lot less expensive than the set-fee operations
  25. which advertise frequently in the help-wanted sections of newspapers.
