- I have to agree. I met Paul Diamond back in about 1973 or so at a magic
- convention in Portland Oregon. He was teaching a seminar on close-up that
- was so good his pamphlet is still part of my magic library. Being an
- "obnoxious" performer is walking a very fine line, and anyone who is
- considering it would do well to study Paul's work.
-
- Incidentally, a few years later I met Paul in his magic shop in Florida. I
- can't remember the exact town, but it was a short drive north of Orlando. I
- was lucky enough to catch him in the shop, and he showed me a card effect
- he had recently perfected, which he called "surprize triumph". It was an
- excellent close-up effect, in which a mixed up deck is not only
- straightened out, but all cards other than the one selected change the
- color of their backs! If you haven't seen the effect, look for it. It is
- now a standard routine in my cards act.
