- Those people who experience these problems should hassle the vendor of
- the machine they are using to fix the problem (its a kernel problem).

- For those on SunOS machines, check with your admin to see if they applied
- the patches from the last CERT notice which delt with this problem.

- But that only solves the problem at one end...and the link can be told to
- close on most OS's at any time of day whether it has been up for hours or
- minutes.

- For those who are IRCing from machines running server versions later than
- 2.7.2b, ask your server admin if they have a unix socket setup to allow
- client connections and use that (requires patches to 2.1.5 clients for
- this, however).
