The list of defined custom code tables is shown.
Code tables are used for issue fields where the value must be
selected from a pre-determined list of choices. Code tables can
be defined as containing ôproject relatedö values or they can
be ôglobalö i.e. values shared by all projects. Project related code
tables are accessible under the ôProjectsö menu item. Global code
tables are accessible under the ôCustomizeö menu.

To add a new custom code table click the "New" button.
To delete a custom code table, or several, select the table(s) to delete
by checking the box beside the table name then click the "Delete" button.

At least one value is required in a custom code table therefore a blank value is created automatically when the custom code table is created. As long as the "blank" exists, the dropdown list will default to "blank".

If the field is mandatory, there are two ways to ensure that a value is entered. The first is to remove the blank entry from the custom code table.
The dropdown list will be defaulted to the first entry (based on sorting). The second method is to use the workflow configuration and mark the field as 'required'.

If a field is only required for certain issue resolution states, then using the workflow configuration is the best approach.
