  1.  Preliminaries

  3.  Before installing this package, please ensure you have removed any 
  4.  previous installations of DeskNite from your hard disk by clicking 
  5.  the supplied uninstall icon shortcut in your DeskNite start menu 
  6.  folder. This applies even if you are intending to install DeskNite 
  7.  Color Edition in place of DeskNite basic.
  8.  
  9.  Due to the nature of the DeskNite .inf-based installation routine, 
  10.  YOU MUST REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER at this stage so that Windows can update 
  11.  its system files after the previous uninstall session.

  13.  If in any doubt whatsoever, reboot your computer now.

  16.  Windows automatic installation
  17.  ------------------------------

  19.  Your DeskNite package is installed simply by double clicking on
  20.  the file SETUP.EXE once you have unzipped the contents of
  21.  DeskNite.zip to a folder of your choosing. We suggest a temporary
  22.  folder in your Windows\Temp\ directory.

  24.  Highly recommendend is the excellent WinZip utility. Winzip will automate
  25.  the DeskNite setup with just a press of the Install button on the
  26.  Winzip toolbar.

  33. We DO NOT recommend the use of utilities which render zip files 
  34. transparent or which interfere in some way with normal file-system 
  35. operations. These include Zip Magic and the Windows 98 'compact folders'
  36. facility. We hereby disclaim any obligation to support problems brought 
  37. about by your use of such utilities with DeskNite. All such use is 
  38. entirely at your own risk.

  41. Installation: potential problem areas
  42. -------------------------------------

  44. 1) DeskNite's compact .inf based installer does not like long filenames, 
  45. including, but not limited to, filenames containing spaces. Microsoft's
  46. collossal faux pas, 'Program Files', is a classic case in point.
  47.  
  48. Installation may fail if you specify 'Program Files\..' as your install 
  49. path.

  51. We therefore strongly urge you to accept the default directory, 
  52. c:\coeli\desknite\.., or have the installer create a new folder 
  53. within sensible Win3/DOS filename constraints.

  57.  Removal of DeskNite
  58.  --------------------

  60.  DeskNite may be uninstalled at any time simply by opening
  61.  Control Panel from the Settings entry in your Start Menu, and
  62.  double-clicking on the item Add/Remove Programs. You will be
  63.  shown a list of programs currently installed on your system,
  64.  from which you should select the item 'DeskNite' for
  65.  automatic removal.
