  4. Icon Manager for Windows NT version 3.3.

  9. OVERVIEW
  10. --------
  11. Icon Manager is a powerful tool for working with
  12. icons in the Windows NT operating environment.  The
  13. same drag-and-drop interface used by Program Manager
  14. allows icons to easily be moved, copied, and organ-
  15. ized into files within Icon Manager.  Unlike other
  16. applications which offer awkward procedures for
  17. installing icons into Program Manager, Icon Manager
  18. will install icons into Program Manager or Norton
  19. Desktop DIRECTLY using the wizardry of Windows'
  20. Dynamic Data Exchange.  For those who would like
  21. to create or edit their own icons, Icon Manager
  22. taps the power of OLE to whisk you into a edit
  23. session with Paintbrush by just double-clicking on
  24. an icon.  All of these features and more make
  25. Icon Manager the most complete icon tool available
  26. for the Windows operating environment.

  28. This version of Icon Manager has been created
  29. specifically for the Windows NT operating system.

  32. REGISTRATION
  33. ------------
  34. Icon Manager is not free software.  It is released
  35. as shareware, which provides the opportunity for
  36. the program to be evaluated before it is purchased.
  37. Complete information on how to register Icon Manager
  38. is included in the REGISTER.TXT file.

  40. DOCUMENTATION
  41. -------------
  42. Icon Manager includes on-line help that covers all
  43. aspects of program operation.  It can be accessed
  44. directly from Icon Manager's menu bar by selecting
  45. 'Help'.

  48. INSTALLING ICON MANAGER for the WINDOWS NT O/S
  49. -----------------------------------------------
  50. Icon Manager should be installed while running
  51. under the logon ID of the Icon Manager user.
  52. Configuration information is maintained for the
  53. user in their area of the system registry.
  54.  
  55. The Icon Manager package includes a graphical Windows
  56. installation program using the standard name of SETUP.EXE.
  57. You should place all of the files included in the package
  58. on a floppy disk or in a temporary directory of your hard
  59. drive.
  60.  
  61. SETUP requires about 240K bytes of hard disk space to
  62. complete the installation of Icon Manager.
  63.  
  64. Run SETUP by selecting the 'Run...' command from the
  65. File menu of Program Manager or File Manager. Enter
  66. "d:\SETUP" as the Command Line, where "d" is the
  67. drive/directory that you are installing Icon Manager FROM
  68. (i.e. A:\SETUP).

  70. SETUP will display an Installation Control window that
  71. it pre-sets with the most common defaults for instal-
  72. lation.  Pushbuttons allow you to change any of the
  73. settings to meet your own preferences.

  84.  SOFTWARE LICENSE
  85.  
  86.  Non-licensed users are granted a limited license to use Icon
  87.  Manager on a 30-day trial basis for the purpose of determining
  88.  whether Icon Manager is suitable for their needs.  The use
  89.  of Icon Manager, except for the initial 30-day trial,
  90.  requires registration.  The use of unlicensed copies of Icon
  91.  Manager, outside of the initial 30-day trial, by any person,
  92.  business, corporation, government agency or any other entity is
  93.  strictly prohibited.

  95.  A single user license permits a user to use Icon Manager
  96.  only on a single computer.  Licensed users may use the
  97.  program on different computers, as long as there is NO
  98.  POSSIBILITY of it being used at one location while it is
  99.  being used at another, or on a computer network by more than
  100.  one user at a time.

  102.  No one may modify or patch the Icon Manager executable files
  103.  in any way, including but not limited to decompiling,
  104.  disassembling, or otherwise reverse engineering the program.
  105.  
  106.  A limited license is granted to copy and distribute Icon Manager
  107.  only for the trial use of others, subject to the above
  108.  limitations, and also the following:
  109.  
  110.   1)    Icon Manager and all of its release files must be
  111.         distributed in unmodified form, complete with the file
  112.         containing this license information.
  113.  
  114.   2)    No fee, charge, or other compensation may be requested or
  115.         accepted, except as authorized below:
  116.  
  117.         A) Operators of electronic bulletin board systems (sysops)
  118.            may make Icon Manager available for downloading only as
  119.            long as the above conditions are met.  An overall or
  120.            time-dependent charge for the use of the bulletin board
  121.            system is permitted as long as there is not a specific
  122.            charge for the download of Icon Manager.

  124.         B) Vendors of shareware software approved by the ASP
  125.            may distribute Icon Manager, subject to the above
  126.            conditions, without specific permission.  Non-
  127.            approved vendors may distribute Icon Manager only after
  128.            obtaining written permission from Impact Software.
  129.            Such permission is usually granted.  Please write for
  130.            details (enclose your catalog).

  132.         C) Non-profit user groups may distribute copies of the
  133.            Icon Manager diskette to their members, subject to
  134.            the above conditions, without specific permission.
  135.            Non-profit groups may collect a disk duplication fee
  136.            not to exceed five dollars.

  138.   LIMITED WARRANTY
  139.  
  140.   Impact Software warrants that all disks provided are
  141.   free from defects in material and workmanship, assuming
  142.   normal use, for a period of 90 days from the date of
  143.   purchase.

  145.   Impact Software warrants that the program will perform
  146.   in substantial compliance with the documentation supplied
  147.   with the software product.  If a significant defect in
  148.   the product is found, the Purchaser may return the
  149.   product for a refund.  In no event will such a refund
  150.   exceed the purchase price of the product.

  152.   EXCEPT AS PROVIDED ABOVE, IMPACT SOFTWARE DISCLAIMS ALL
  153.   WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT
  154.   LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND
  155.   FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WITH RESPECT TO THE
  156.   PRODUCT.  SHOULD THE PROGRAM PROVE DEFECTIVE, THE
  157.   PURCHASER ASSUMES THE RISK OF PAYING THE ENTIRE COST OF
  158.   ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR, OR CORRECTION AND ANY
  159.   INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.  IN NO EVENT WILL
  160.   IMPACT SOFTWARE BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER
  161.   (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF
  162.   BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF BUSINESS
  163.   INFORMATION AND THE LIKE) ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR THE
  164.   INABILITY TO USE THIS PRODUCT EVEN IF IMPACT SOFTWARE
  165.   HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

  167.   Use of this product for any period of time constitutes
  168.   your acceptance of this agreement and subjects you to its
  169.   contents.
