  1. @ This is the DOS general help file.  It contains a brief
  2. @ description of each command supported by the DOS help command.
  3. @ HELP will display the text in this file when invoked with no
  4. @ arguments.  HELP will also try to invoke any command listed here
  5. @ with the /? parameter, if HELP is invoked with that command name.
  6. @
  7. @ Lines beginning with @ are comments, and are ignored by HELP.
  8. @ This file may be modified to add new commands.  If the HELP command-name
  9. @ form is to be used, any new commands should support the /? parameter.
  10. @ New commands should start in the first column.  Any extra lines needed
  11. @ for a command description should be preceded by white space.  Commands
  12. @ must be added in alphabetical order.

  16. APPEND   Allows programs to open data files in specified directories as if
  17.          they were in the current directory.
  18. ASSIGN   Redirects requests for disk operations on one drive to a different
  19.          drive.
  20. ATTRIB   Displays or changes file attributes.
  21. BREAK    Sets or clears extended CTRL+C checking.
  22. CALL     Calls one batch program from another.
  23. CD       Displays the name of or changes the current directory.
  24. CHCP     Displays or sets the active code page number.
  25. CHDIR    Displays the name of or changes the current directory.
  26. CHKDSK   Checks a disk and displays a status report.
  27. CHOICE   Waits for you to choose one of a set of choices.
  28. CLS      Clears the screen.
  29. COMMAND  Starts a new instance of the PC DOS command interpreter.
  30. COMP     Compares the contents of two files or sets of files.
  31. COPY     Copies one or more files to another location.
  32. CPBACKUP Backs up one or more files from one disk to another.
  33. CPBDIR   Gives a report on backup directories.
  34. CPSCHED  Schedules unattended program execution at specific periods.
  35. CTTY     Changes the terminal device used to control your system.
  36. DATAMON  Guards against dataloss on your computer.
  37. DATE     Displays or sets the date.
  38. DEBUG    Runs Debug, a program testing and editing tool.
  39. DEFRAG   Reorganizes files on disks for optimal performance.
  40. DEL      Deletes one or more files.
  41. DELTREE  Deletes a directory and all the subdirectories and files in it.
  42. DIR      Displays a list of files and subdirectories in a directory.
  43. DISKCOMP Compares the contents of two floppy disks.
  44. DISKCOPY Copies the contents of one floppy disk to another.
  45. DOSKEY   Edits command lines, recalls PC DOS commands, and creates macros.
  46. DOSSHELL Starts IBM DOS Shell.
  47. DRVLOCK  Locks the drive so that media cannot be removed.
  48. E        Starts IBM DOS Editor, which creates and changes ASCII files.
  49. ECHO     Displays messages, or turns command echoing on or off.
  50. EDLIN    Starts Edlin, a line-oriented text editor.
  51. EJECT    Ejects the media from a drive.
  52. EMM386   Turns on or off EMM386 expanded memory support.
  53. ERASE    Deletes one or more files.
  54. EXE2BIN  Converts .EXE (executable) files to binary format.
  55. EXIT     Quits the COMMAND.COM program (command interpreter).
  56. EXPAND   Expands one or more compressed files.
  57. FASTOPEN Decreases the amount of time needed to open frequently used files
  58.          and directories.
  59. FC       Compares two files or sets of files, and displays the differences
  60.          between them.
  61. FDISK    Configures a hard disk for use with PC DOS.
  62. FIND     Searches for a text string in a file or files.
  63. FOR      Runs a specified command for each file in a set of files.
  64. FORMAT   Formats a disk for use with PC DOS.
  65. GOTO     Directs PC DOS to a labelled line in a batch program.
  66. GRAPHICS Loads a program that can print graphics.
  67. HELP     Provides Help information for PC DOS commands.
  68. IBMAVD   Detect and remove viruses from your system.
  69. IBMAVSP  Interactive, stand-alone AntiVirus program for recovery from
  70.          catastrophic virus damage.
  71. IF       Performs conditional processing in batch programs.
  72. INTERLNK Displays status of INTERLNK-INTERSVR redirected drives.
  73. INTERSVR Provides serial or parallel file transfer and printing capabilities
  74.          via redirected drives.
  75. JOIN     Joins a disk drive to a directory on another drive.
  76. KEYB     Configures a keyboard for a specific language.
  77. LABEL    Creates, changes, or deletes the volume label of a disk.
  78. LH       Loads a program into the upper memory area.
  79. LOADFIX  Loads a program above the first 64K of memory, and runs the program.
  80. LOADHIGH Loads a program into the upper memory area.
  81. MD       Creates a directory.
  82. MEM      Displays the amount of used and free memory in your system.
  83. MKDIR    Creates a directory.
  84. MODE     Configures a system device.
  85. MORE     Displays output one screen at a time.
  86. MOUNT    Assigns a specified DOS driver letter to a SuperStor/DS disk.
  87. MOUSE    Provides mouse pointer device support.
  88. MOVE     Moves files and renames file and directories.
  89. NLSFUNC  Loads country-specific information.
  90. PATH     Displays or sets a search path for executable files.
  91. PAUSE    Suspends processing of a batch file and displays a message.
  92. POWER    Reduces power used by your computer.
  93. PRINT    Prints a text file while you are using other PC DOS commands.
  94. PROMPT   Changes the PC DOS command prompt.
  95. QCONFIG  Assists IBM support personnel in obtaining detailed technical
  96.          information about your computer.
  97. RAMSETUP Installs RAMBOOST which optimizes your computer's memory.
  98. RD       Removes a directory.
  99. RECOVER  Recovers readable information from a bad or defective disk.
  100. REM      Records comments (remarks) in batch files or CONFIG.SYS.
  101. REN      Renames a file or files.
  102. RENAME   Renames a file or files.
  103. REPLACE  Replaces files.
  104. RESTORE  Restores files that were backed up by using the BACKUP command.
  105. RMDIR    Removes a directory.
  106. RTOOL    Performs an integrity check of the compressed volume file(CVF).
  107. SCHEDULE Schedules unattended program execution at specific periods.
  108. SET      Displays, sets, or removes PC DOS environment variables.
  109. SETVER   Sets the version number that PC DOS reports to a program.
  110. SHARE    Installs file-sharing and locking capabilities on your hard disk.
  111. SHIFT    Shifts the position of replaceable parameters in batch files.

  123. UDEOFF   Removes UDEON from memory.
  124. UDEON    Universal Data Exchange allows you to use compressed disks on other
  125.          systems.
  126. UNDELETE Recovers files which have been deleted.
  127. UNFORMAT Restores a disk erased by the FORMAT command or restructured by the
  128.          RECOVER command.
  129. UNMOUNT  Releases a SuperStor/DS disk that was mounted from its assigned
  130.          drive letter.
  131. VER      Displays the PC DOS version.
  132. VERIFY   Tells PC DOS whether to verify that your files are written correctly
  133.          to a disk.
  134. VOL      Displays a disk volume label and serial number.
  135. XCOPY    Copies files (except hidden and system files) and directory trees.
