  6. The Advanced options pop-up window allows you to specify more complex comb
  7. inations of drives, subdirectories, and files to be checked for viruses th
  8. an does the Check system pop-up window. The Advanced options pop-up window
  9.  is accessed by selecting the Advanced options push button on the Check sy
  10. stem pop-up window. 
  11.  
  12. Select the drive, directory, and files you want to check. Then use the Add
  13.  push button to add them to the Paths selected for checking box. Repeat th
  14. is process until everything that you want to check is listed in the Paths 
  15. selected for checking selection box. Use the Save settings push button if 
  16. you want to save these settings permanently. Then use the Execute push but
  17. ton to perform the check.

  19. Note that only items that appear in the Paths selected for checking select
  20. ion box are used during this check. The only way to put items in the Paths
  21.  selected for checking selection box is with the Add push button.

  27. Use the Drives/Directories selection boxes to select a drive and directory
  28.  to check. The files to check on that drive and directory are selected wit
  29. h the Files to check box.

  38. Use the Files to check box to select the files to check on the specified d
  39. rive and directory.

  41. Selecting Program files tells IBM AntiVirus/DOS to check files that are no
  42. rmally executable on the specified drive and directory. These are files th
  43. at have file types of BAT, BIN, CMD, COM, DOS, DLL, EXE, OS2, OV?, PRG and
  44.  SYS. Selecting All files tells IBM AntiVirus/DOS to check all files on th
  45. e specified drive and directory. In either case, the master boot record an
  46. d all active partition boot records on the specified drive are also checke
  47. d if the drive is a local hard disk, including Boot Manager boot records.

  49. Normally, viruses only infect program files. Checking program files is the
  50.  correct thing to do in most cases. The only exceptions are if an executab
  51. le file has been renamed to some other file type or if a program uses over
  52. lay files that have some other file type. Usually, files other than progra
  53. m files are data files that do not become infected with viruses. Checking 
  54. all files finds viruses, no matter what files they are in, but it takes lo
  55. nger because more files need to be checked.

  57. Selecting Specific files allows you to specify a particular file in the se
  58. lection box below. The selection box displays the files in the selected dr
  59. ive and directory. Select the files that you want to check, and select the
  60.  Add push button in the Paths selected for checking selection box to add t
  61. hem to the list.

  66. If a file cannot be accessed for some reason, it is skipped and checking c

  74. heck, add them to the list by selecting the Add push button. You can delet
  75. e items from the list by selecting them, then selecting the Delete push bu
  76. tton. When the Paths selected for checking box lists everything you want t
  77. o check, select the Execute push button to perform the check.

  105.  values that had been specified are discarded.

  108. tings for subsequent sessions.

  115. ions pop-up window. When you select Advanced options at a later time, thes
  116. e saved settings are used.

  122. Use the Execute push button to check the specified list of drives, directo
  123. ries, and files for viruses now. If a virus is found, you will be given th
  124. e option to remove the virus and to do a more thorough search to make sure
  125.  all instances of the virus are eliminated.

  135. Use the Cancel push button to close the Advanced Options pop-up window and
  136.  return to the previous pop-up window. When you select the Cancel push but
  137. ton, any settings on this pop-up window that you have not saved are discar
  138. ded.
