-
- You can use the Ami Pro File Manager to copy, move, rename, delete, and change
- the attributes of files. In addition, the File Manager provides options for
- specifying which file names appear in the window.
-
- File Management allows you to work with files but not directories. The files
- can be Ami Pro documents or style sheets, or files created in other
- applications. You cannot use the File Manager to copy or move a directory.
-
- Copying, moving, or renaming an Ami Pro document file using an OS/2 command
- does not guarantee that formatting, graphics, and related files remain with the
- document. Use the File Manager and choose the appropriate options to ensure
- that all necessary files remain with the document.
-
- To use file manager
-
- 1. Choose File File Management.
-
- 2. Select any desired files.
-
- 3. Double-click to change the drive or directory.
-
- Ami Pro displays any description specified in the Document Information next
- to each file name. If a file is not an Ami Pro document, the description
- indicates "Not an Ami Pro File."
-
- 4. Choose the desired item from the File or View menu.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Copying or moving a file ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- You can copy or move one or more files at a time.
-
- To copy or move a file
-
- 1. Choose File File Management.
-
- 2. Select any files you want to copy or move.
-
- 3. Choose File Copy or File Move.
-
- 4. Specify the full path for the destination file.
-
- If you select multiple file names, or if you want to use the same file name
- as the original, specify only the drive and path.
-
- 5. Choose OK.
-
- 6. Select the desired options.
-
- The options you select determine whether the style sheet associated with an
- Ami Pro document and the graphics files referenced in the document are
- copied or moved.
-
-
-
- Take Associated Graphics Files
- Select Take Associated Graphics Files to copy or move an Ami Pro document
- containing pictures imported without the Copy Image option.
-
- Ami Pro copies or moves the document and any graphics files referenced in
- the document to the destination you specify, even if the graphics files are
- stored in a different directory than the document.
-
- Deselect this option to copy or move a document that contains pictures
- pasted from the Clipboard or imported with the Copy Image option.
-
- Take Associated Style Sheet
- Select Take Associated Style Sheet to copy or move an Ami Pro document that
- uses a style sheet. This option ensures that the style sheet is available
- on the destination disk or in the destination directory.
-
- If you select this option and the destination is a floppy drive, Ami Pro
- copies or moves the document and the style sheet to the floppy drive.
-
- If the destination is a hard drive, Ami Pro copies or moves the document to
- the directory you specify and the style sheet to the STYLES directory
- specified in the User Setup.
-
- Maintain Format
- Select Maintain Format to copy or move an Ami Pro document and keep all the
- formatting information (page layout and paragraph styles) stored in the
- document. This is similar to the Keep format with document option in the
- Save As dialog box. Ami Pro does not copy or move the style sheet
- associated with the document.
-
- You can also select this option to maintain the format of a document when
- it is displayed on another computer that either does not have the style
- sheet associated with the document, or has a style sheet with the same name
- but different settings than the style sheet associated with the document.
-
- Selecting this option makes all formatting information document specific.
- Even if the original style sheet is available, Ami Pro does not use it. Any
- changes made to the original style sheet are not reflected in the format of
- the document.
-
- 7. Choose OK.
-
- Ami Pro copies or moves the selected files. Ami Pro copies or moves any
- associated graphics files or style sheets if you selected these options.
