The drive letter you selected is not valid because one of the following has
occurred:

 1. The drive specified does not exist.
 2. The drive letter is incorrect.
 3. You are trying to write to a redirected drive.
 4. You are trying to write to a read-only drive.

For situations 1 and 2 above; retry the task using the correct drive letter.

For situation 3, you are not allowed to write to a redirected drive.

For situation 4, use the File page in the Settings notebook, or use the ATTRIB
command to change the read-only attribute.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ <hidden> Message Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

You cannot write to a write-protected diskette. Make sure that the you are
using the proper diskette, or remove the write protection; then retry the task.

To store information on a write-protected diskette, you must remove the
write-protect tab from the 5.25-inch diskette, or slide the tab back over the
write-protect hole on a 3.5-inch diskette.  When you have finished writing
information to a write-protect diskette, replace the write-protect tab.

If a diskette does not have a write-protect notch or tab, the diskette is
permanently write-protected.  Many software manufacturers use permanently
write-protected diskettes to prevent the information on the diskette from being
accidentally changed or deleted.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ <hidden> Message Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

One of the following has occurred:

 1. The drive is empty.
 2. The drive door is open.
 3. The drive is in use.

To correct the error, do one of the following; then, retry the task:

 1. Insert a diskette in the drive.
 2. Close the drive door.
 3. Wait until the drive is available.
If an application is calling for a specific diskette, be sure the correct
application diskette is inserted in the drive properly.

Check the drive and diskette; then, select OK to retry the task.

Do one of the following; then retry the task:

 1. Format the drive or diskette for the operating system.

    Warning:  When you format a drive or diskette, any information that was

 4. Use Check disk to see if the diskette is damaged.

    To run Check disk, press mouse button two with the cursor over the correct
    disk object.  Display the pop-up menu for the object; then, select Check
    disk.

If you are still not able to use the diskette, get a new diskette and format it
on this drive.

You are unable to complete the task because one of the following has occurred:

 1. The drive is switched off, or not connected correctly.
 2. The diskette and drive types are incompatible.
 3. The diskette is not inserted in the drive correctly.
 4. The drive or diskette is not formatted correctly.

Do one of the following; then, retry the task.

 1. Check to be sure the drive is on and connected.
 2. Be sure you are using the correct diskette type for the drive you are
    using.
 3. Check to be sure the diskette in inserted correctly in the drive.
 4. Format the drive or diskette for the operating system.

    Warning:   When you format a drive or diskette, any information that was
    previously on the drive or diskette is erased.


 5. Check to be sure you do not have a high density diskette in a low density
    diskette drive.

If you are still not able to use the diskette, get a new diskette and format it
on this drive.

incorrectly.  Correct the directory or folder name; then retry task.

The specified drive is not correct.  The drive could not be found in the
specified path.  Try the task again using the correct drive, directory and

One of the following has occurred:

 1. The file is marked read-only.
 2. The filename is incorrect.
 3. The resource, such as a file or sub-directory (folder/sub-folder), that you
    tried to access is in use.  Or, the named pipe, queue, or semaphore is a
    shared resource in use.
 4. You tried to access a resource or to perform an action for which you do not
    have sufficient privilege. You have LAN Server Version 2.0 installed and
    you tried to access a resource or perform an action for which you do not
    have sufficient privilege.

Do one of the following; then, retry the task:

 1. Use the File page in the Settings notebook, or the ATTRIB command to change
    the read-only attribute.
 2. Correct the filename.
 3. Try to access the resource again when it is not in use.
 4. Log on with sufficient privilege.  If you do not have sufficient privilege,
    request it from the administrator who controls access.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ <hidden> Message Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

To make more memory available, do one of the following:

 1. Close some or all open folders or settings notebooks.
 2. End any running programs you no longer need that are running as background
    processes or that are running in other sessions; then, retry the task.
 3. Make some space available on the swap drive.

If you try all of the above and still are experiencing problems, you should
shut down; then, restart your system.

The File Allocation Table (FAT) file system allows a filename to be up to 8
characters, and a filename extension of up to 3 characters.  The filename and
extension must be separated by a period.

Example of a FAT file system name:  MYNEW.PRO

The High Performance File System (HPFS) allows filenames up to 254 characters,
including any number of separators.

Example of a HPFS file system name:  MYNEW PRO

    Wait for some programs to finish running, or close some running programs
    and windows.


 3. No message exists for this error.

To rename the program file as specified, select No.

Note:   When you select No and rename a program that currently has an extension
        of .EXE or .CMD, the program will no longer run when you use the OS/2
        or DOS command lines.  In most cases, the program will still run when
        selected from the Desktop.

If the program's extension is .BAT or .CMD, it will no longer run from either
the Desktop or from the OS/2 or DOS command lines when you change it's
extension.

You can create an object that starts a program or session.

To create a reference to this program that allows you to change the name or to
move the program, refer to creating program objects using a template, in the
Master Help Index.

Select Cancel to end this task and keep the object's existing name.

Before you change or remove the file name's extension, consult the
documentation that came with the program required to run it. For example,
spreadsheet data files might require certain file name extensions such as a
.wk1 extension.  Text files could require extensions such as .doc, .txt, or
.scr.

To change the program's file name but keep its current extension, select Yes.

To change the file name to what you have now specified as a new name, select
No.

When you select No, the original file name extension will be changed.

Select Cancel to end this task and keep the existing file name.

You are trying to create an object for a server, but the system cannot complete
your request because you do not have sufficient system resources. Contact your
system administrator.

If segment swapping is active, the swap file may be full.

 2. Reduce the value of the BUFFERS=, TRACEBUF=, DISKCACHE=, THREADS=, RMSIZE=,
    or DEVICE=VDISK.SYS statement in the CONFIG.SYS file. Shut down; then,
    restart the system.
 3. Remove unwanted files from the swap file disk; shut down, then, restart the
    system.
 4. Install additional memory on your system.
 5. Contact the supplier of the application.

 5. End any processes currently using this object; then try to delete it.

You may have an error in the Find name field or in the Find type field.  Be
sure you have correctly entered the object name, and selected the correct type.

The Find Results list displays the list of objects that match the search

 1. You might have a data file that is associated to a program object, but the

 1. Associate the data file to a program object:

   o Display the pop-up menu for the object.
   o Select the arrow to the right of Open.
   o Select Settings.
   o Select the Association.
   o Select the Help push button for detailed information.

 2. End some running programs or close some open windows.
 3. Be sure that you have entered the path and file name correctly.

If you want to type a volume label, do so now.  A volume label can be up to 11
characters long.  Any characters that exceed the 11 character limit are

until you rename them.

Selecting No removes the associated programs from the object's pop-up menu but
lets you rename the file.  When you select this choice, you are no longer able
to start these programs by using the object's pop-up menu.

Selecting Cancel ends changing the object's name.
