  5. HPSCANER.SYS
  6. ============

  8. You use the HPSCANER.SYS scanner driver with the HP ScanJet 
  9. scanner. This scanner also requires the SJDRIVER.SYS driver
  10. provided by Hewlett-Packard.
  11.  
  12. To add the device drivers to your CONFIG.SYS, use a text 
  13. editor to type the entry as it appears below. Be sure to 
  14. include a path if the scanner driver is not in your root directory. 
  15. Remember to include additional parameters when necessary.

  17. CONFIG.SYS entries:
  18.  
  19. device=SJDRIVER.SYS
  20. device=HPSCANER.SYS
  21.  
  22. SJDRIVER.SYS assigns the port address for these scanners.
  23.  
  24. Available options and the parameters you should add to your CONFIG.SYS:
  25.  
  26. 300, 200, 180, 150, 75,
  27. 50 DPI settings               The default.
  28. 600, 450, 300, 150,
  29. 75, 50 DPI settings           Add the parameter /D to your CONFIG.SYS. 
  30.                               This option specifies printer resolutions.
  31. 600, 500, 400, 300,
  32. 200, and 50 DPI settings      Add the parameter /H to your CONFIG.SYS. 
  33.                               This options specifies high range resolutions.

  35. Settings supported by the HP ScanJet:
  36.  
  37. Brightness     3 settings 
  38. Contrast       Automatic only 
  39. Colors         B&W, 16 gray levels
  40. Halftones      4 options
  41. Resolutions    Default: 300x300, 200x200, 180x180, 150x150, 
  42.                         75x75, 50x50
  43.                /D:      600x600, 450x450, 300x300, 150x150, 
  44.                         75x75, and 50x50
  45.                /H:      600x600, 500x500, 400x400, 300x300, 
  46.                         200x200, and 50x50

  49. HPSCANER.EXE
  50. ============

  52. The HP ScanJet series driver, HPSCANER.EXE, is a Revision 6 
  53. scanner driver (see REV6.DOC for more information).  It 
  54. supports the HP ScanJet Plus and the HP ScanJet IIc.
  55.  
  56. The HP ScanJet Plus requires the scanner driver SJDRIVER.SYS,
  57. provided by Hewlett-Packard. If you load HPSCANER.EXE in your
  58. CONFIG.SYS, your entry should look like this:

  63. The HP ScanJet IIc requires the scanner driver SJII.SYS, provided
  64. by Hewlett-Packard. if you load HPSCANNER.EXE in your CONFIG.SYS, your

  110.     /H      = Displays the parameters the scanner driver supports.
  111.     /?      = Displays the parameters the scanner driver supports.
  112.     /Txxxx  = Do diagnostic testing (verify communication with scanner).
  113.     /U      = Unload driver.
  114.     /V      = Verbose messages and status displays.
  115.     /0      = Special scanner specific parameter.
  116.     /1      = Special scanner specific parameter.

  121. These switches allow for the selection of different resolution selections
  122.  
  123.     /0 gives the choice of 600, 450, 300, 150, 75, and 50 DPI
  124.     /1 gives the choice of 600, 500, 400, 300, 200, and 50 DPI

  126. The default resolutions are 300, 200, 180, 150, 75, and 50 DPI

  128. Error/Information Messages

  131. The following list of messages apply to all Revision 6 scanner drivers.  Not 
  132. all drivers have all of the messages. For example, if a driver does not have 
  133. a DMA setting, the user will not get an invalid DMA message.

  139. This message is the sign-on copyright that is displayed whenever the scanner 
  140. driver is loaded or run.

  144.     'Loaded driver found.'
  145.  
  146. This message is displayed when the scanner driver is already loaded and an 
  147. attempt is made to re-load the driver.  This message will be followed by a 
  148. display of the currently loaded drivers settings.

  152.     'Driver loaded, using "x" bytes of DOS memory'
  153.  
  154. This message is displayed when the scanner driver is loaded into memory and 
  155. informs the user of the amount of memory used by the driver.

  161. This message is displayed when the /U parameter is specified to unload the 
  162. scanner driver (TSR mode only).

  170. parameter the driver does not support or recognize.

  177. This message is displayed when the user attempts to load a Revision 6 scanner 
  178. driver "over" an old format driver.  The user has not removed the old scanner 
  179. driver from CONFIG.SYS and the Revision 6 scanner driver refuses to load.

  185. This message is displayed along with the error messages listed above to 
  186. inform the user that the scanner driver has not been loaded.

  190.     'Cannot UNload driver loaded from CONFIG.SYS.'
  191.     'Can only UNload TSR driver (loaded from DOS).'
  192.  
  193. This message is displayed when the user specifies the /U parameter and the 
  194. scanner driver has been loaded from CONFIG.SYS.  The scanner driver can only 
  195. be unloaded if it has been loaded as a TSR.
