- HPSCANER.SYS

- You use the HPSCANER.SYS scanner driver with the HP ScanJet
- scanner. This scanner also requires the SJDRIVER.SYS driver
- provided by Hewlett-Packard.

- To add the device drivers to your CONFIG.SYS, use a text
- editor to type the entry as it appears below. Be sure to
- include a path if the scanner driver is not in your root directory.
- Remember to include additional parameters when necessary.

- CONFIG.SYS entries:
-
- device=SJDRIVER.SYS
- device=HPSCANER.SYS
-
- SJDRIVER.SYS assigns the port address for these scanners.
-
- Available options and the parameters you should add to your CONFIG.SYS:
-
- 300, 200, 180, 150, 75,
- 50 DPI settings The default.
- 600, 450, 300, 150,
- 75, 50 DPI settings Add the parameter /D to your CONFIG.SYS.
- This option specifies printer resolutions.
- 600, 500, 400, 300,
- 200, and 50 DPI settings Add the parameter /H to your CONFIG.SYS.
- This options specifies high range resolutions.

- Brightness 3 settings
- Contrast Automatic only
- Colors B&W, 16 gray levels
- Halftones 4 options
- Resolutions Default: 300x300, 200x200, 180x180, 150x150,
- 75x75, 50x50
- /D: 600x600, 450x450, 300x300, 150x150,
- 75x75, and 50x50
- /H: 600x600, 500x500, 400x400, 300x300,
- 200x200, and 50x50

- HPSCANER.EXE
- ============

- The HP ScanJet series driver, HPSCANER.EXE, is a Revision 6
- scanner driver (see REV6.DOC for more information). It
- supports the HP ScanJet Plus and the HP ScanJet IIc.

- The HP ScanJet Plus requires the scanner driver SJDRIVER.SYS,
- provided by Hewlett-Packard. If you load HPSCANER.EXE in your
- CONFIG.SYS, your entry should look like this:

- The HP ScanJet IIc requires the scanner driver SJII.SYS, provided
- by Hewlett-Packard. if you load HPSCANNER.EXE in your CONFIG.SYS, your

- /H = Displays the parameters the scanner driver supports.
- /? = Displays the parameters the scanner driver supports.
- /Txxxx = Do diagnostic testing (verify communication with scanner).
- /U = Unload driver.
- /V = Verbose messages and status displays.
- /0 = Special scanner specific parameter.
- /1 = Special scanner specific parameter.

- These switches allow for the selection of different resolution selections

- /0 gives the choice of 600, 450, 300, 150, 75, and 50 DPI
- /1 gives the choice of 600, 500, 400, 300, 200, and 50 DPI

- The default resolutions are 300, 200, 180, 150, 75, and 50 DPI

- Error/Information Messages

- The following list of messages apply to all Revision 6 scanner drivers. Not
- all drivers have all of the messages. For example, if a driver does not have
- a DMA setting, the user will not get an invalid DMA message.

- 'ZSoft Scanner Driver, version 6.00'
- 'Copyright(C) ZSoft Corp. 1991, All rights reserved.'

- This message is the sign-on copyright that is displayed whenever the scanner
- driver is loaded or run.

- 'Loaded driver found.'
-
- This message is displayed when the scanner driver is already loaded and an
- attempt is made to re-load the driver. This message will be followed by a
- display of the currently loaded drivers settings.

- 'Driver loaded, using "x" bytes of DOS memory'
-
- This message is displayed when the scanner driver is loaded into memory and
- informs the user of the amount of memory used by the driver.

- 'The scanner driver has been removed from memory'

- This message is displayed when the /U parameter is specified to unload the
- scanner driver (TSR mode only).

- 'Invalid parameter - ?'

- This message is displayed when the scanner driver finds a command line
- parameter the driver does not support or recognize.

- 'Old format scanner driver currently loaded.'
- 'Remove scanner driver from CONFIG.SYS and reboot'

- This message is displayed when the user attempts to load a Revision 6 scanner
- driver "over" an old format driver. The user has not removed the old scanner
- driver from CONFIG.SYS and the Revision 6 scanner driver refuses to load.

- 'Driver not loaded'
-
- This message is displayed along with the error messages listed above to
- inform the user that the scanner driver has not been loaded.

- 'Cannot UNload driver loaded from CONFIG.SYS.'
- 'Can only UNload TSR driver (loaded from DOS).'
-
- This message is displayed when the user specifies the /U parameter and the
- scanner driver has been loaded from CONFIG.SYS. The scanner driver can only
- be unloaded if it has been loaded as a TSR.
