  1. DFI.SYS

  3. You use the DFI.SYS scanner driver with the DFI Handy 
  4. Scanner 2000, DFI Handy Scanner 3000, and DFI Handy 
  5. Scanner 3000 Plus.
  6.  
  7. You get better scanning results with the DFI Handy Scanners 
  8. if you have EMS.
  9.  
  10. These scanners are not entirely programmable from the 
  11. program. You must set the same resolution on the 
  12. scanner and in the program to avoid having invalid image 
  13. data appear at the side of your scanned image. If you 
  14. scan too quickly the image may appear distorted.  
  15.  
  16. To manually add the device driver to your CONFIG.SYS, use a text 
  17. editor to type the entry as it appears below. Be sure to 
  18. include a path if the scanner driver is not in your root directory. 
  19. Remember to include additional parameters when necessary for the
  20. DMA channel you want.

  22. CONFIG.SYS entry:

  24. For the DFI Handy Scanner 2000:        device=DFI.SYS /A
  25. For the DFI Handy Scanner 3000:        device=DFI.SYS
  26. For the DFI Handy Scanner 3000 Plus:   device=DFI.SYS
  27.  
  28. Available port addresses and the parameters you should add 
  29. to your CONFIG.SYS:

  31. Addresses     Port 27AH (27A hexadecimal)
  32.  
  33. Options                The DFI Handy Scanner 2000 and 
  34.                        DFI Handy Scanner 3000
  35.                        support no options
  36.  
  37. DFI Handy Scanner 3000 Plus    
  38. Default: DMA Channel 1
  39.          DMA Channel 3: add the parameter /C3 to your CONFIG.SYS
  40.  
  41. Settings supported by this scanner:
  42.  
  43. Brightness     Set on scanner only
  44. Contrast       Not supported by scanner
  45. Colors         B&W only
  46. Halftones      Set on scanner only
  47. Resolutions    Must be set on the scanner and within the program.
  48.   Handy Scanner 2000:        200x200
  49.   Handy Scanner 3000,
  50.   and 3000 Plus:             400x400, 300x300, 200x200, 100x100
  51.  
  52. NOTE: The Handy Scanner 3000 Plus has a scan overrun light that 
  53. goes out if you scan too quickly. If the light goes out, 
  54. stop scanning and release the scan switch momentarily. The 
  55. overrun light turns on again, and you can continue to scan. 
  56. An image that is scanned too quickly may appear distorted.
