VGA: 486DX 33MHz or greater, 8 MB RAM, MS-DOS 5.x or 6.x, and VGA
SVGA: 486DX2 66 or greater, 8MB RAM, MS-DOS, 5.x or 6.x, SVGA.
both require 8 MB free on your HD (or more if fully installed) and a double spin CDROM (single spin is OK for a full install)
DOS Users:
type INDYCAR <ENTER> to start VGA mode
type INDYCAR -H <ENTER> to start SVGA mode (be sure to have a VESA driver loaded)
Windows 95 Users:
IndyCar Racing II is designed to run under MS-DOS operating System. We have performed limited testing in Windows 95.
Select Start menu, and choose Shut down then select restart in MS-DOS mode. do the same as above from that point.
Possible Memory problems:
we recommend at least 12 megs of RAM to use IndyCar Racing II with windows 95. Windows 95 leaves less available RAM for IndyCar Racing II. If you have only the minimum requirement for the game (8MB), you may not have enough RAM to run the game or to get sound. Consider adding more RAM to your syste,.
If you have no sound, Restart in MS_DOS mode and start the game by typing:
INDYCAR -F <ENTER> for VGA mode, or
INDYCAR -H -F <ENTER> for SVGA mode.
if Sound and/or CDROM not loaded, edit autoexec and config sys to mount these devices.
IndyCar II racing requires 4000KB free memory in combination of conventional plus XMS memory for VGA mode, and 7500KB for SVGA mode.
False Rumours:
Indy Car II Racing is an MS-DOS game, not a Windows'95 game or otherwise. There are no .DLLs pertaining to the game. here is the result of scan of the original CDROM..
C:\>e:
E:\>dir *.dll /s
Volume in drive E is INDYCAR2REL
Volume Serial Number is 0DE9-9E86
Directory of E:\
_SETUP DLL 9,728 06-12-95 2:07a _SETUP.DLL

Total files listed:

0 dir(s) 0 bytes free

the setup DLL (dynamic link library) is only used to install the game, which merely creates Start menu Shortcuts in Windows'95, anyone should be able to recreate these, although it is not vital to the game's operation in no way.
here is how to reach Papyrus, and in doing so, you will find out that the windows'95 version is not to be released until January/February 1996.
