- 15. Press enter to accept.
- 16. Press F10 to exit.
-
- Note: Additional printer memory (above the factory installed
- 2mb) may be required to sucessfully print files with large

- TIFFs to a smaller size, or using fewer fonts or attributes
- (shadow, underline, etc.) for the fonts.

- 10. Use the arrow keys to select the paper size, then press <Enter>.
- 11. Use the arrow keys to position the cursor across from "Use spooler".
- 12. Press F3 (Choices), and select "Yes".
- NOTE: Setting "Use spooler" to "Yes" activates the integral spooler
- and allows you to get back to Harvard Graphics sooner when printing.
- With it set to "No", you'll have to wait until the print job is
- nearly finished in order to continue working. If you do not wish
- to use the integral spooler, (for example, when using an external
- hardware or software spooler) set "Use spooler" to "No".
- 13. Use the arrow keys to position the cursor across from "Quality".
- 14. Press F3 (Choices).
- 15. Select one of the following "Quality" options, then press <Enter>.

- NOTE: This sets the spooler size to approximately 3Mb. Since Harvard

- have enough disk space to accommodate it. Lowering the spooler size
- will increase the time it will take to free up your PC while printing.
- If you are using an external spooler (hardware or software solution),
- set the "Use spooler" option to "No" in the Printer Setup Menus.
- 20. Press the Esc key.

- INSTALLATION NOTES:
-
- ===========================================================================
- 1-2-3 for DOS Release 2.3 Network Edition users:
-
- If you are a network administrator and need to update the 1-2-3 for DOS
- Release 2.3 Network Edition, you will require the Lotus 2.3 Network Edition
- update disk. This update is available electronically via CompuServe in the
- Hewlett-Packard peripherals forum, from Hewlett-Packard Distribution
- at (303) 353-7650, or Lotus Development Corporation.
- ============================================================================
-
- Before proceeding with the update, please make sure there is at least 1.3
- megabytes of hard disk space available on the disk containing your 1-2-3
- program. This amount of disk space is required temporarily to allow the
- update to create copies of the files that will be modified. This is done
- to insure that the integrity of all files being affected remain intact
- during the update procedure.
-
- To perform the update procedure, you must complete these instructions:
-
- 1. Insert the disk in drive A: (or B:)
-
- 2. At the operating system prompt, type A: (or B:) and press ENTER to make
- A: (or B:) the current drive.
-
- 3. At the prompt, type UPDATE followed by a space and the path of your
- Release 2.3 or 2.4 directory, and then press ENTER. For example, if
- you have Release 2.4 and your directory is C:\123R24, you would type
- UPDATE C:\123R24 and then press ENTER. When the update is complete,
- the following message appears: "1-2-3 Update files have been installed.
- To take advantage of the new printer drivers, you must now run the
- 1-2-3 Install program."
-
- 4. You must now run the Install program. Follow the instructions in chapter
- 4 of Getting Started (if you have Release 2.3) or chapter 5 of Getting
- Started (if you have Release 2.4) to start Install or use the following
- general procedure:
-
- 1. Select "Change Selected Equipment".
- 2. Select "Add New Drivers to the Library".
- 3. Insert the Driver Disk into a floppy drive.
- 4. Type the name of the floppy drive when prompted by the Lotus INSTALL
- program (e.g., A or B).
- 5. Select "Modify the Current Driver Set".
- 6. Select "Graphics Printer", "HP", then "DeskJet 1200C Extended
- Capabilities".
- 7. Select "Text Printer", "HP", then "DeskJet 1200C"
- 8. Select "Return to Previous Menu".
- 9. Select "Save the Current Driver Set", then <Enter> to accept the
- default 123 file name.
- 10. Press <Enter> at the "GENERATING FONTS" screen.
- Note: If you have multiple driver sets, you must recreate each
- driver set using Select Your Equipment.
- 11. Highlight "Extended" and press <Enter> to generate the fonts.
- 12. Make sure you select "Yes" when prompted with "Do you want to
- generate font sizes now?".
- 13. Press any key to end the Lotus INSTALL program.
-
- Note: WYSIWYG drivers such as the "DeskJet 1200C Extended Capabilities"
- allow easy access to advanced features such as color and scalable
- fonts thereby providing the best overall printing solution. A native
- mode text driver is available, but requires the use of setup strings to
- access advanced features. This driver defaults to black text only.
- These setup strings are not necessary for WYSIWYG drivers.
-
-
- Setting Up WYSIWYG
- ------------------
- In general, you should do the following;
- 1. Select :, Print, Config, Printer ...then use the arrow keys to
- select "HP DeskJet 1200C Extended Capabilities" as the printer
- and media type.
- 2. Press <Enter>.
- 3. Select Interface ...then use the arrow keys to select the port where
- your printer is connected ...then press <Enter>.
- 4. Select Bin, then Single-Sheet.
- 5. Press <Enter>.
- 6. Select the Orientation (Portrait or Landscape) ...then press <Enter>.
- 7. Select Quit twice to return to your spreadsheet.
-
- Printing From WYSIWYG
- ---------------------
- The following steps assume that the WYSIWYG add-in program is loaded.
- 1. Select ":" to access the WYSIWYG command line.
- 2. Select Print, Range, Set ...to select the cells you want to print.
- 3. Select Go ...to print.
-
-
- ===========================================================================
- APPLICATION NOTES:
-
- 1-2-3 for DOS will automatically use internal scalable typefaces resident
- in your printer when you select to use the "HP DeskJet 1200C Extended
- Capabilities" driver in Wysiwyg, the publishing environment which is
- part of 1-2-3 for DOS.
-
- If you have a 1-2-3 spreadsheet which you would like to try printing with
- your new HP DeskJet 1200C printer driver, just /File Retreive it. Make
- sure that you select the appropriate driver and interface through Wysiwyg's
- :Print menu or through the :Print dialog box. Then choose :Print Range
- Set, and when your HP DeskJet 1200C printer is ready, choose :Print Go.
-
- Refer to your 1-2-3 User's Guide if you need more information on printing
- with 1-2-3's Wysiwyg or the :Print menu(s).
-
- The following fonts in 1-2-3's Wysiwyg display will automatically map to
- your HP DeskJet 1200C printer:
-
- Swiss => Univers Dutch => CG Times Courier => Courier
-
- Additionally, you can select the HP DeskJet 1200C printer fonts by name
- through the Wysiwyg menu :Format Font Replace (1-8) Other.
-
- Then:
- Select a printer font
- Specify the point size
-
- Please keep in mind that 1-2-3's Wysiwyg display can not show you the
- actual font available in your printer. Moreover, you may notice that
- the spacing between characters changes on screen when you've selected
- to use a font available in your HP DeskJet 1200C printer. This is
- done to indicate the width of characters as they will appear on your
- printed output.
-
- HP DeskJet 1200C Printer Fonts Selectable Through Wysiwyg:
-
- CG Times HP-TIMES.IFL
- Univers HP-UNVRS.IFL
- Albertus HPALBERT.IFL
- Antique Olive HPANTOLV.IFL
- Garamond HPGARAMD.IFL
- Omega HPOMEGA.IFL
- Wingding HPWNGDNG.IFL
