  1. This directory contains the demo version of Hamilton C shell(tm) for
  2. Chicago and Window NT for Intel x86.

  7.     property, licensed only to the original recipient through
  8.     special arrangements with Microsoft's Chicago Beta
  9.     program.

  11.     Please do not distribute this demo to anyone else.
  12.     Under no circumstances should you post it to any bulletin
  13.     board nor should you upload it to any FTP server.

  17. Hamilton C shell is a much more powerful alternative to the standard
  18. MS-DOS command window on Chicago and Windows NT and comes with virtually
  19. all the day-to-day utilities most folks will ever need.  Careful attention
  20. has been paid to making this the best possible product on Chicago and
  21. Windows NT.  For example, even though it certainly provides all the
  22. power (and much more!) of the original UNIX C shell, this is not simply
  23. a cosmetic attempt to make Chicago or Windows NT look more like Unix.

  25. Price, including shipping by air, is $350 in the U.S., $365 in Canada
  26. or Mexico or $395 elsewhere.  On quantity 5 or more, there is a 5%
  27. discound.  We accept purchase orders from most U.S. organizations of
  28. recognized credit; international orders must be prepaid in U.S. dollars.
  29. We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards, bank
  30. wires and checks drawn on a U.S. bank

  32. Except for the addition of demo.exe, and the doc directory (containing
  33. the ASCII text and Postscript versions of the User Guide and other
  34. materials) and this readme.1st file, the layout you see, including even
  35. the detailed release notes in readme.too, is just what you'd see in the
  36. actual product version.

  38. The shell and all the utilities have been crippled so they'll expire
  39. on August 31, 1994.  After that, if you want to continue using the
  40. product, you'll have to buy a copy.  Also, an annoying "nagware" message
  41. has been added to C shell itself so it'll remind you each time it starts
  42. up that if you like the product, we hope you'll buy it.  Other than
  43. that, the entire product is fully functional.

  45. The samples directory contains a number of sample C programs and C shell
  46. scripts which we hope you'll find helpful in experimenting with the C
  47. shell.

  49. It is not necessary to actually install this package onto your hard disk
  50. to try it out.  Simply type "demo" and you're off and running!
