- ************************* RUNNING REMOTE UNDER WINDOWS ********************
-
- o The Remote program can be run from within Windows. To remotely run
- Windows that is on a host, use a full-screen (maximized) DOS Windows
- session on the remote. The files AWSEND.PIF and AWREMOTE.PIF
- are provided so you can run pcANYWHERE from within Windows.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- ******************************* LAPTOPS **********************************
-
- o Some laptops may require that the Color preference be set to Monochrome
- to see the menus clearly. If you cannot read the screens well enough
- to set this option, run the mode command before running pcANYWHERE
- as follows:
-
- MODE BW80
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- *************************** AUTOMATED PROCEDURES *************************
-
- o The following AWREMOTE command line option will affect Automated
- Procedures:
-
- -p=a
-
- This option instructs AWREMOTE to execute all host sessions within a
- procedure, even if the sessions were scheduled to run prior to the
- current date and time. It will, however, execute sessions scheduled
- later than the current time only when the scheduled time is reached.
- This makes it possible for you to set up a procedure to call a group
- of hosts, setting the times so that the sessions will be executed in
- the order you desire. (They are still displayed on the screen in
- alphabetical order by Host Name.)
-
-
- ***************************** FILE TRANSFER ******************************
-
- o The File Transfer Program Options includes an option to allow
- deletion of entire directories. If set to YES, you are able to delete
- all files and subdirectories within a directory with one operation.
- Set this option to NO to prevent yourself from accidentally erasing
- entire directories. (Even if enabled, you are prompted several times
- before files and directories are deleted!)
-
- o You can now use the TAB and SHIFT-TAB to switch between the YOUR FILES
- and HOST FILES windows.
-
- o AWSEND works with calls made with pcANYWHERE III's ATERM program. The
- user interface is similar to the ASEND program.
-
-
-
- ******************************** SCRIPTS *********************************
-
- o The script file named COMPUSRV.SCR is a sample script file that can be
- used to log onto CompuServe. To use the script, select the script name
- in a host directory entry that has your CompuServe phone number. The
- first time you call CompuServe, the script asks you for your ID and
- password and stores them (encrypted) in a file. After the logon is
- completed, you will be in terminal mode.
-
- Note that this script only serves as a script example. It may not
- function properly in all environments.
-
-
-
-
-
-
- ******************************** SCRIPTS (continued) **********************
- o An additional command is available:
-
- TYPE CHAR <integer | integer_variable>
-
- This command sends the indicated ASCII character to the screen.
- The TYPE STRING and TYPE LINE commands converts integers and
- integer variables to ASCII strings before displaying them.
-
- For example:
-
- TYPE STRING 65 outputs "65" on the screen
- TYPE CHAR 65 outputs "A" on the screen (65 is an ASCII A)
-
- The SEND CHAR, SEND STRING, and SEND LINE commands operate similarly.
-
-
- **************************** NORTON UTILITIES ******************************
-
- The Norton Utilities 5.0 or greater use font redefinition technology
- to change the characters. To run remotely, use the /g0 switch to
- disable this redefinition.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- ********************** DISKREET - A Norton Utility *************************
-
- The Diskreet utility prompts for a password when initial access is
- made to the protected drive. This password prompt appears on the
- host only.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- **************************** DTR AND MODEMS ********************************
-
- A small number of modems require DTR to be on ALWAYS. If you
- experience a modem that starts dialing but immediately says
- NO CONNECTION, try changing this setting in your Hardware
- Configuration to DTR ALWAYS ON.
