  22. Thank you for your interest and support for the File 
  23. Magic family of products. This README.TXT file contains
  24. information pertinent to the use of this software.  Please
  25. read this file prior to installing and using File Magic
  26. Plus at your location.

  28. The release software is designed to be used on a 386/486
  29. PC running Microsoft Windows version 3.1.

  33. II.    Features and Functions
  34. -----------------------------------------------------------

  36. The File Magic Plus Version 3.0 Family of Products extend the
  37. functionality previously available in the File Magic Expert
  38. software.  The new features are numerous and extensive.  For a
  39. more detailed description of this version software's features
  40. and functions, refer to the User's Guide for details.  If you
  41. are an experienced File Magic Expert user and would like a
  42. description of the differences between the two versions of
  43. software, refer to the READNEW.TXT text file that accompanies
  44. this version of software.

  50. III.   Pertinent Version 3.0 Operating Information
  51. -----------------------------------------------------------

  53. 1.  Selecting Index All into a Full Text Document Group may
  54. cause an application error to occur if you run out of available
  55. disk space.  Ensure you have sufficient disk space available
  56. before selecting Index All on Full Text Groups.
  57.  
  58. 2.  In order to view embedded graphics in word processing files
  59. you must be in either Normal or Preview mode.  You cannot view
  60. embedded graphics in a text document in Draft mode.
  61.  
  62. 3.  If you rotate the view of a section in a multi-section
  63. File Magic Plus document, in order to retain that rotated view
  64. for later display, you must save it before you move to another
  65. section.  In File Magic Plus, unlike File Magic Expert, the
  66. current view is maintained independently for each section of
  67. a multi-section document.

  69. 4.  When you use the Separate & Merge utility to Merge entire
  70. Super Groups and you specify Overwrite Current Item, the
  71. system will overwrite all the existing Document Groups in
  72. the Super Group and replace them with the Document Groups to
  73. be merged.

  75. 5.  The Find Next and Find Previous right mouse button menu items
  76. are only valid when searching for text within the current
  77. document. File Magic Plus does not currently support searching
  78. for text across multiple documents.  Considering for possible
  79. future enhancement.

  81. 6.  Using a Full text search routine to search for text across
  82. multiple Super Groups may cause inconsistent operating results
  83. to occur.  Consider searching for the text within each
  84. individual Super Group as separate steps.

  86. 7.  When using the HP DeskJet 550C color printer to print black
  87. & white images, you must add the following line to the WIN.INI
  88. file's [STATDLL] section.

  93. extensions to exist for proper "auto-sense" identification to
  94. occur.  They are:

  122. 10. During installation of File Magic Plus Professional or for
  123. Workgroups on top of an existing copy of File Magic Plus Personal,
  124. you must access the Admin Program's Directory Settings dialog box
  125. and choose OK to specify the correct system directories' paths.
