  5. Micro House is continually updating DrivePro to increase its depth and scope.
  6. We are already working on the next version!
  7. Comments are always welcome.
  8.  
  9. New versions are available from Micro House's BBS when released but only to
  10. subscribers.  As of 1 January 1994, DrivePro subscriptions are no longer
  11. available.  If you have a registered copy of DrivePro you can purchase a
  12. single upgrade from Micro House's sales department.  If you are upgrading
  13. more than one version, the upgrade price will also include a new manual if
  14. there is a newer version.

  19. TO SERIALIZE YOUR NEW DRIVEPRO DISKETTE:
  20.  
  21. If this is a copy-protected version of DrivePro (which are designated with a
  22. "C" at the end of the version # as in 1.20C) then it is already serialized
  23. and only needs to have the system files copied to it.
  24.  
  25. If this is not a copy-protected version of DrivePro:
  26.     1) DISKCOPY this diskette and store the unused original in a safe place.
  27.     2) SYS the working copy so that it is bootable with DOS.
  28.     3) Run DRIVEPRO and enter your serialization information to serialize
  29.         your diskette.  The serial number is found on the diskette label.

  31. NOTE: There is no longer a separate update version of DrivePro.

  35. SPECIAL NOTES:
  36.  
  37. Many software utilities will interfere with the registration or operation of
  38. DrivePro.  For this reason, we recommend booting from the DrivePro diskette.
  39. If you experience difficulties registering DrivePro, make bootable and boot
  40. from the DrivePro diskette to ensure that a minimum of software is loaded.

  46. This section covers post-release additions and changes to the DrivePro
  47. manual revision E.

  49. *** DrivePro release 1.20 includes the following changes:
  50.  
  51.  - DrivePro uses the new Micro House Custom Drive Type for drives with
  52.     more than 1024 cylinders and plug-and-play capability.
  53.     See "ADDITIONAL INFORMATION" below.
  54.  
  55.  - The DrivePro regular MBR is no longer recognized by Microsoft's setup
  56.     program.  This means that if you are installing a drive without any special
  57.     features, a standard MBR will be installed that is equivalent to
  58.     Microsoft's MBR and will not require anything special to install DOS and
  59.     no special procedure for booting from floppy.  DrivePro is an excellent
  60.     utility to install drives generically.  Even if you do not need any of
  61.     DrivePro's special features, it is easier and quicker than using DOS to
  62.     install drives.
  63.  
  64.  - The hard drive, controller card, logical specs, and company databases
  65.     have been updated.
  66.  
  67.  - No more exploding windows.  This should allow the program to run more
  68.     quickly, especially on slower machines.  /X has been disabled.
  69.  
  70.  - DrivePro no longer beeps after each menu choice.
  71.  
  72.  - Many text changes were made to the menus.  The functions are almost all the
  73.     same, but some of the menu option names were changed.

  75. *** Other changes since the release of DrivePro manual revision E:
  76.  
  77.  - In Enhanced Mode / Format Operations, a feature titled Relocate Cluster has
  78.     been added.  Use this feature to relocate the data from and mark bad in the
  79.     FAT a cluster you know to be bad.

  83. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  85. *** Support for drives with more than 1024 cylinders:
  86.  
  87. DrivePro now has the new Micro House Custom Drive Type for drives with
  88. more than 1024 cylinders or plug-and-play capability.  This boot code
  89. will be installed on your drive if you choose the menu option
  90. "Partition Table/MBR" -> "Install Master Boot Record" and then select
  91. "DrivePro Custom Drive Type", "DrivePro >1024 Cylinder Support", or
  92. "DrivePro IDE Antiviral MBR".  The new custom boot code will be
  93. installed on your drive automatically if necessary if you use the
  94. "IDE Quick Setup" menu option from the "Automatic Installation".
  95.  
  96. *** To boot from a floppy with a custom drive type installed:
  97.  
  98. To boot from a floppy when a DrivePro Custom Drive Type is installed
  99. on the hard drive, you must first boot the machine with no disk in
  100. the floppy drive.  When a message appears telling you to hold down
  101. the Ctrl key to boot from a floppy, hold down the Ctrl key until a
  102. message appears telling you to insert a bootable floppy and press Enter.
  103. Then insert a bootable floppy disk into the drive and press Enter.
  104. You will then have access to the hard drive with its custom drive type.
  105. This method has replaced the MHDRIVE program.
  106.  
  107. CAUTION: If you boot directly from a floppy drive with a custom drive
  108. type installed on the hard drive, your data may be unaccessible.
  109. Simply reboot from the hard drive to access your data.
  110.  
  111. *** DOS 6 Installation with a DrivePro custom drive type:
  112.  
  113. To install DOS 6 on a drive that has a DrivePro custom drive type
  114. already installed, you must run DOS6INST which can be found on your
  115. DrivePro diskette.  Follow the instructions DOS6INST gives you.
  116.
