  1. Thank you for your interest in the CompuServe Information Manager(tm) for 
  2. Windows - WinCIM(r).

  4. A rich context-sensitive Help feature can be accessed from any area of 
  5. WinCIM by hitting the F1 key.
  6.  
  7. You can obtain information on the current status of WinCIM by accessing 
  8. the GO WINCIM area on CompuServe.  This area contains information 
  9. related to the status of WinCIM.  
  10.  
  11. You can also obtain help and support through the WinCIM Support Forum 
  12. (GO WCIMSUPPORT).  This forum is devoted to WinCIM and is staffed by 
  13. representatives from CompuServe's Customer Service department.

  16. New features in WinCIM 1.2:
  17.  
  18. - A new graphics viewer has been implemented.  It supports both 
  19.   GIF and JPEG images:
  20.  
  21. - A GO TREND chart button has been added to the Quotes dialog.
  22.  
  23. - A Weather Maps button has been added to the Weather dialog.
  24.  
  25. - A Search button was added to the recipient list dialog.
  26.   This button allows the searching of the online member
  27.   directory.

  29. - The forum selection pull-down menu (when creating a forum message) 
  30.   is now sorted according to the favorite places preference for
  31.   sorting order.

  33. - An updated help file has been included with this release.

  35. - The comments stored in GIF/JPEG files can now be viewed in WinCIM.

  37. - There is now an option to save an "unsaved" GIF/JPEG image when 
  38.   the image is closed.

  41.   in forum library lists and the filing cabinet.

  44.   settings dialog.

  61. Important WinCIM Information:
  62.  
  63. * If you are upgrading from WinCIM version 1.0.5 (or earlier) AND
  64. you have the "^" character in your password, you will need to
  65. respecify your password the very first time you use WinCIM 1.1.
  66. You only need to do this IF you have the password stored in your 
  67. session settings.
  68.   
  69. * WinCIM "looks" at the text in menus and articles and determines if the 
  70. data is column data.  If WinCIM detects that the information contains column 
  71. data, it will switch into a fixed font (so the information will line up 
  72. properly).  You can switch between the fixed and proportional font by 
  73. choosing the "Fixed Font" option from the Edit pull down menu (or you can 
  74. use Cntrl-T).

  76. * Special features in WinCIM can be accessed by modifying items in the 
  77. WINCIM.INI file.  See the file WC-INI.TXT in the WinCIM Support Forum (GO 
  78. WCIMSUPPORT) for additional details.

  80. * International keyboard characters (ISO Latin-1) can be used in WinCIM.  
  81. This capability allows WinCIM users to send CompuServe Mail and Forum 
  82. messages that contain international characters.  There are some known 
  83. limitations to using these characters.  For additional information about 
  84. this topic, see the file WC8BIT.TXT in the "General" Library of the WinCIM 
  85. Support Forum (GO WCIMSUPPORT).

  87. * WinCIM is shipped with a mono-spaced font that can be used when using 
  88. WinCIM's terminal emulation mode.  This font (Monospaced 821) can be 
  89. installed through the Windows Control Panel and it will then be available 
  90. for use in WinCIM.  You can find this font in the c:\cserve\wincim 
  91. directory.

  93. The default "Terminal" font can be changed in WinCIM by accessing the 
  94. "General Preferences" dialog and clicking on the "Fonts" button.

  96. * Sounds (.WAV files) can now be associated with WinCIM events (i.e. 
  97. connecting, file transfer completion, etc.).  Sounds can be added and 
  98. removed through the sound module in the Windows Control Panel.

  100. The WinCIM install procedure does not overwrite any existing sounds that 
  101. may already be defined in the WIN.INI file.  If WinCIM made changes to the 
  102. WIN.INI file, the original file was backed up and named WININI.CIM.
