  5.           Renegade is *FREE*, or perhaps, "donationware".  However,  it is
  6.        requested  that    if    you already  haven't  registered for  Renegade
  7.        support    on    the  author's  board, you  do  so  with  the  enclosed
  8.        REGISTER.DOC. The cost is only $25. Considering Renegade and all of
  9.        it's  related utilities  are FREE, $25 is nothing.

  11.           In addition, your $25 will  buy you a  permanent account    on The
  12.        Digital Frontier,  the  author's  four  line   system with  all the
  13.        latest Renegade utilities available for download.

  15.           If you do NOT register, then you have no right to complain about
  16.        anything.  To paraphrase Martin Pollard:

  18.               Why am I doing this?    It's quite simple: I'm tired of giving
  19.        away something  for free, and getting nothing  but grief in return.
  20.        The majority of the Renegade sysops have  no  respect for  software
  21.        authors, conference    rules, or even common human  decency. They not
  22.        only expect    everything    handed to  them for free, they    DEMAND it,
  23.        and expect me to kiss their asses while doing it.

  25.           So, in exchange for my sacrificing  a significant portion  of my
  26.        life and mental health in  providing you with Renegade, I am asking
  27.        that you help me pay for  my BBS.  If you  don't  feel Renegade  is
  28.        worth $25, then    I  can't see why  you're running  it.  I certainly
  29.        can't see any reason why I should assist you in running Renegade.

  32.           To  register     for  support,    you  need  simply    to    fill   out
  33.        REGISTER.DOC included in the RGMAINT package, print it, and mail it
  34.        to the author at the address indicated.

  40.           Since there are many people out there that are hell-bent on
  41.        spreading rumors and putting words in my mouth, I figure I'll
  42.        clarify:

  44.             1.  RENEGADE is FREE.  You do NOT pay for it.
  45.  
  46.             2.    If you LIKE Renegade, I ask that you register on my
  47.                 system for support and files (permanently) for $25.
  48.  
  49.             3.    This is all because I am tired of wasting my time doing
  50.                 something completely for free, only to have to deal with
  51.                 the complaining, demanding, and grief that I continously
  52.                 get in netmail, email, and the various Renegade echoes
  53.                 out there.  Now I am wasting a significant amount of MONEY
  54.                 running a 4 line system for Renegade support.

  56.           Furthermore:

  58.             1.    If you DON'T register, that's fine too.
  59.  
  60.             2.    If you DON'T register, you have NO right to bitch and moan
  61.                 when I don't go out of my way to personally help you.

  63.             3.    No, I will NOT go out of my way to completely stop helping
  64.                 anybody who doesn't register for support.

  66.             4.    The reverse will simply be true; I won't waste my time and
  67.                 add to my stress level by going out of my way for people
  68.                 who don't register.

  70.             5.    For those of you that DON'T already realize it; I'm not
  71.                 only a full time student, but I have a job too. I have
  72.                 very little free time after work and school, and am
  73.                 tired of donating it and my money to what at times seems
  74.                 to be the most ungrateful faction of electronic society

  84.      Your modem configs will all be toast when upgrading from 01-02-93
  85.      or earlier.  Redo them.

  101.      Renegade needs an 80186 or better processor. If you are using an
  102.      8088 or 8086, you can replace your  processor with an NEC V20 or
  103.      V30 processor respectively, for as little as $5.You will then be
  104.      able to run most 286 applications.
