  4. 1.  HEADSTART EDITION FORMS NOT APPROVED FOR FILING

  6. The forms in the HeadStart Edition have not been approved
  7. for filing by the IRS.  You must use the Final Edition to
  8. prepare the IRS copy of your tax return.

  10. If you didn't purchase your program from ChipSoft, complete
  11. the Registration Card in the package (or in the program) so
  12. we can ship the Final Edition to you when it is available.

  15. 2.  FORM SELECTION MENUS
  16.  
  17. The 'Scroll forms menu' on the Toolkit Menu is set to OFF
  18. initially.  This means the Summary Style Form Selection Menu
  19. is displayed, not the Scroll Style Form Selection Menu.

  21. The Summary Style menu shows the forms and schedules in one
  22. window and the worksheets in another window.  Press the
  23. Space Bar to switch between the windows.

  25. To use the Scroll Style menu, set 'Scroll forms menu' to ON.

  28. 3.  CHANGES ON THE HELP MENU
  29.  
  30. The 'Logical Next Step' command is set to ON initially,
  31. which means LOGICAL NEXT STEP messages are displayed when
  32. appropriate.  If you set 'Logical Next Step' to OFF, these
  33. messages are not displayed.  To see one-time-only messages
  34. again, set 'Logical Next Step' to OFF, then back to ON.

  36. The 'Which Forms to Use' command displays the Which Forms
  37. to Complete Worksheet.

  40. 4.  ENTERING AND DELETING TEXT INFORMATION

  42. While you enter information into an Enter Text field on a
  43. color monitor, the field changes from green to light blue.
  44.  
  45. To delete all the information from an Enter Text field
  46. quickly, place the cursor on the data field, then press the
  47. Back Space key while you hold down the Ctrl key.

  50. 5.  DEPRECIATION OF LISTED PROPERTY AUTOMOBILES

  52. There are five categories of listed property vehicles, not
  53. six.  Category 5 is 'After 7/31/86 (MACRS)' and there is no
  54. Category 6.

  56. 6.  TRANSFER OF AMORTIZATION

  58. If the transfer amortization information from last year's
  59. data file, add the proper Form or Schedule Code for the
  60. amortization to the Codes column on the Depreciation and
  61. Amortization Worksheet.  TurboTax will then transfer this
  62. year's amortization amount to the indicated form or
  63. schedule.

  68. 7.  STATE PROGRAMS ON ORDER FORM

  70. On the order form in the manual, WA (Washington) should be
  71. WI (Wisconsin).

  74. 8.  PRINT TO A DISK FILE COMMAND

  76. The 'Print to a disk file' command does not work for a
  77. graphic format Form 1040 or Form 1040A if you have selected
  78. a Hewlett Packard Series II or III laser printer because of
  79. the downloaded fonts.

  82. 9.  VERTICAL ADJUSTMENT

  84. To change the length of a graphic format Form 1040 or 1040A
  85. produced by your dot matrix printer, select 'Edit printer
  86. codes' from the Printer Options Menu, then select 'Vertical
  87. Adjustment'.  The larger the number you enter, the shorter
  88. the form.

  91. 10.  IMPORT DATA COMMAND

  93. When the "Import data" command transfers an amount to a
  94. Calculated Amount field, it changes the field to OVERRIDDEN.
