- v1.03 - [Updates]
-
- Started : 08/06/91
- Finished : 08/13/91
-
- >> Re-wrote the top five routines that were left in there from LSD. Instead
- of going through the entire user list everytime it displayed the list, I
- made it update the list only when a user posts, uploads, or downloads.
- The data is saved in the file called TOP5.DAT.
-
- >> Re-wrote the WFC sequence. Now the software will re-init the modem every
- so often, to ensure that the phone isn't off hook, or that a bad init
- string got caught up somewhere. This should take care of the garbage that
- users get every once in awhile while logging on.
-
- >> Added Conference Stats in the system statistics. This will list all the
- files and messages in a conference. Users will only see the conferences
- that they have access to.
-
- >> I add a few little things to the File AREA listings, telling the user if
- the area allows downloads, uploads or both. It also tells the user how
- many files are in that area, giving them a total at the end.
-
- >> Started major work on Extreme*Net v1.00. If I don't get it done with this
- version, there will still be something in there that we can beta test with
- to see how it works.
-
- >> Added Top Five exempt level. This will allow you to take users of this
- level and above out of the top five listings.
-
- >> Added in an option for file passwords. Set this option to on if you want
- users to be able to add file passwords.
-
- >> Changed the Sub-Board listing routine to display number of posts, and also
- it displays whether it is a public, or netted sub.
-
- >> Spiced up the transfer section a little more. I made the batch listings
- a little more informative, and more neat.
-
- >> The new protocols are finally finished. Instead of having seperate files
- to store upload, download, batch upload, and batch download protocols
- (like all the forum hacks), I now made it into one file. The editor is
- the easist forum hack protocol editor out there to use.
-
- >> Did some work with the BBS listings. I added an option in there that
- will allow you to enter the amount of megs that the board has. I also
- changed the format which it displays the list. The previous list was
- too slow at 2400, so you Extreme sysop's that allow 2400 on don't have
- to here the users bitching.
-
- >> Changed the way that rumors are listed, the reason is the same as the
- reason for changing the BBS list.
-
- >> Did some work on the LAST CALLERS listing. I added caller number, and
- the amount of times that the user has called. I also did some work with
- the speed thing in the list, now it should say if the user called with
- the HST and if they were at ARQ mode. It also shouldn't say 38400 for
- every call now, it should decipher between 2400, 9600 and 14400. If a
- user logs on at 9600 v.32 it won't say v.32, it will just say 9600, but
- if the user calls at 9600 HST it will say 9600/HST/ARQ. It basically
- will say the result code how it is displayed when you call out with your
- term and connect to a board.
-
-
- NOTE : You must delete these files, since their format is different.
- CALLERS, and BBSLIST.DAT.
-
- If there is a reason that you want to keep the files, then tell me
- and I will make a conversion program, but I didn't want to waste
- time on something that I thought was insignifigent.
-
-
- v1.04 - [Updates]
-
- Started : 08/14/91
- Finished : 09/12/91
-
- >> There was a bug in the Top Five listing. The current user online would
- take over spot 5 no matter what stats he had. This error is now fixed
- and the Top Five should work GREAT now!
-
- >> Extreme*Net V1.00 is ready. It's not too much as of yet, just messages
- right now. Leave Strider mail on his board if you want to join up.
- There is also a listing of Net Board ID's with this version.
-
- >> Tons of cosmetic flaws have been fixed up. Too many to really mention
- here, but most of them are fixed.
-
- >> The New-Scan prompts now work 100%. On version 1.03 the prompt for the
- message base was commented out accidentally. It's now back in there.
-
- >> Did some work with the conferences, now you can make conferences and
- define them as either Message Base only, File Base only, or both. This
- is yet another unique feature that Extreme has over the other hacks!
-
- >> Added the Prompt configuration to the Config. It's now that last option
- under the "System Information" section (last option as of v1.04).
-
- >> Thanks goes to Dumper of Dumper's Den Elite BBS for making a load of
- protocols for Extreme. I didn't have the time, nor the energy to do it
- so I'd like to give him special thanks for the help.
-
- >> I completely removed the database function. No one ever uses it, and I
- believe that it is a worthless mod. And it decreased Extreme's overlay
- by 10k.
-
- >> Re-wrote the New User Voting routines. I was having troubles with users
- being able to vote one new users more than once. I also took out the
- levels that the New User gets when he is voted on, instead it now uses
- the defualt factors that the [+] key gives in the user editor.
-
- >> Added another option to the [+] key in the user editor, now the [+] key
- will give user's conference access if you define it to.
-
- >> The Screen Saver should work now, I forgot to check to see if the saver
- was on when I was displaying some stuff, so when the Screen Saver went
- on there would be text left on the display.
-
- >> Added a more comprehensive storage check for sysops. Instead of the
- total available space, it now tells you how much space is on drives
- C:, D:, E:, and F: for those with more drives than that, I am working
- on a routine that will detect it, and if there are more drives, it will
- add them in for you, upto your maximum drive letter.
-
- NOTE : You must run the CONVERT program to convert your users from v1.03 to
- v1.04. You must also run the Config program to modify the new
- options. Remember to BACKUP your user list before you convert!
-
- v1.05 - [Updates]
-
- Started : 09/15/91
- Finished : 09/30/91
-
- >> Added two more options to the configurable file listings. One is Disk
- number of number. And the other is graphix mode (along with SB support)
- . Since I added those two things (which are usually included in the
- description), I took off 10 characters in the descriptions. They no
- longer have to put [1/2] in the description.
-
- >> The Area Sort in the Transfer Sysop Commands has been updated, you can
- now choose either the current Area, or all the areas to sort. I couldn't
- stand going from area to area to sort them.
-
- >> Fixed a bug in the single file upload, sometimes it would make a file
- that was uploaded private for "FILE".
-
- >> Rewrote the [C]hange File command in the Transfer Sysop Options. It is
- now a full screen edit of the files. It also allows you to page through
- all the files instead of quiting and hitting [C] again for a new file.
- (Yet another Unique feature).
-
- >> Fixed a bug in the config that would limit your BBS prompt to only 33
- characters, instead of the set 79 characters. This should make the
- prompt a little more unique and configurable.
-
- >> I re-did the Net's Origin line system. The second origin line is the only
- one that can be modified. But it will support 79 characters and it will
- also support the basic | color codes (01-15 for Colors, RC for User's
- color #1, SC for User's Color #2, IC for User's Color #3, and PC for User's
- color #4). The first origin line will be created from your BBS's name,
- phone number (new config option, under "NET") and your BBS's ID #. If
- you don't want to have your BBS's # in there, just put in (xxx)-Pri-Vate
- or something like that for the number.
-
- >> After a user uploads, Extreme will exit to dos and run a batch file named
- COMMENT.BAT that will basically do whatever you want it to do. I'll have
- a COMMENT.BAT file in this zip so you can look at a basic one. The board
- will exit with two parameters. %1 will be the entire path, name and ext-
- ension of the zip file, and %2 will be just the extension (without the
- '.'). You can just check %2 to see if it's a ZIP or a LZH or whatever.
-
- >> Added shadowing to the DrawBox routine, to make the boxes look a little
- neater.
-
- >> Made new stat screens for the Logon Stats, Your Status, and the Transfer
- stats. I didn't like the look of the old status screens. I also added
- configurable stat screens for those screens. The MCI codes are in the
- docs under MCI codes with the name of the 3 configurable stat screens.
-
- >> Added a new header type (#4). It's the Velocity header. I logged on to
- a velocity board a few weeks ago, and the header looked real nice so I
- decided to use it as one of Extreme's headers.
-
- >> Added a few new options under the Color Configuration in the Config. It
- now allows you to change the color of headers #3 and #4. You can define
- the background, foreground and the outline colors for each of those two
- headers.
-
- >> Worked a lot on the transfers. Made it a little more clean looking. I
- also added the full screen upload screen for single upload, batch upload
- and sysop upload.
-
- >> Added an option in the Transfer Sysop area that will allow you to
- "Process" files in the area. When you process a file, you are just run-
- ning the COMMENT.BAT file on that file.
-
- >> Sorry about the docs, they aren't done as of yet. I have a basic out-
- lined documentations with this release, but they are by no means, done.
-
- *NOTE* For Extreme v1.04 sysops, please backup your BBS and run the convert
- programs named FILECONV.EXE and USERCONV.EXE. Read the docs for
- each of these if you do not know how to use them!
-
- v1.06 - [Updates]
-
- Started : 10/02/91
- Finished : 10/26/91
-
- >> Add quoting in the message base. All replies in the message base may
- be quoting if the user likes.
-
- >> Took out the AREACODE.BBS file, since it was causing major problems if
- a new user logged on with an areacode the was in the file.
-
- >> The User's Phone Number in Your status was all screwed up. It would
- not print the first 2 numbers of their area code. It does now!
-
- >> When a user did a search in the transfer section, the search would dump
- the user in the last file area, but now it dumps them back to the area
- where they started their scan.
-
- >> If a user uploaded a private file, any user could do an archive list of
- it, or even type it out if it wasn't archived. Now the private files
- are really private!
-
- >> When a sysop adds files, they get asked a question if they would like to
- demon task the file, and the default was set at NO. It is now defaulted
- at yes since the sysop would more likely demon task it than not demon
- task it.
-
- >> If a user knew your system password, but didn't have an account, they
- could go through the system password, then log on new. But after they
- logged on new, it wouldn't ask them to send feedback, and it would let
- them right into the board. It now won't do that.
-
- >> If you had the auto-validate files on, it would keep the files as NEW.
- I don't know why it didn't work how I had it (it should have), but it
- will work now!
-
- >> When I wrote the new NUV routines, I neglected to put in a check to see
- if the user actually had access to the NUV. I also forgot to check to
- see if the sysop even had NUV on! That is now fixed.
-
- >> I also added a Mandatory NUV option, if you turn this option on, then
- all users that are eligble to vote, will be put right into the NUV
- routines if there are new users to vote on.
-
- >> I made the VIEW CONFERENCE STATS configurable. I know that when you
- get a lot of messages and files, it's very slow. I will speed it up
- with next version, but for now if you think it is too slow, you can
- just turn it off (the user can still hit 'S' for system stats and take
- a look at the conference status if they want).
-
- >> Fixed a bug with the Upload/Download ratio getting reset. If you use
- your own configurable status screens, and used the MCI code to display
- their Upload/Download Ratio, it would set their required UDRatio to
- their current UDRatio. Stupid error on my part, but it's fixed!
-
- >> Did a major overhaul on the Net. As of v1.06 of Extreme, Extreme*Net
- 2.00 is here. There are major changes with the net, it now uses node
- lists to determine who is calling, and who to call.
-
- >> Added 3 more MCI codes. %RP tells them their required Post/Call Ratio.
- %RU tells them their required Upload/Download Ratio. %RK tells them
- their required Upload/Download K ratio.
-
- >> Fixed the coloration bug that sometimes came up when the system asked
- the user for the System Password.
-
- >> If you are a hub/host then you can make a text file called "NETHRS.BBS"
- that will tell users that the board is only recieving net calls at this
- time. (It will display it during Net Recieve hours).
-
- >> Fixed the "Date Applied" field in the new user voting. Before the date
- applied would come up as 0/0/80. Now it's the date that the user did
- apply.
-
- >> All the new options in the config program will now be highlighted per
- version. Old commands will be in Yellow, and the new options for the
- current version will be in Red. This makes it easier to know what is
- new and what isn't.
-
- >> Fixed the Matrix Chat to now sound a beep. Before there wasn't any beep
- but now there should be.
-
- >> Added a new command in the sysop options. It's [G] for Global Editing.
- I came across this idea when I wanted to make another conference and
- then had to go into the user editor and give everyone access to it. I
- thought that stunk. So I made a little global editor, where it will
- go through every user and give them all a certain stat, like Conference
- 1-5 access, main level, and File level. That is all there is for now,
- but when I think of more things to globally edit, then I'll add them.
-
- >> Back by popular demand is the macro. I took out macro 2 and 3 since I
- don't see any reason for them, but if someone wants all 3 back, then tell
- me and I'll stick them all in there. The macro is executed by the Ctrl-Z
- key in the editor. It is a one key swift macro now, since it won't ask
- which macro you want to use (1-3).
-
- >> Fixed a little bug with the Upload/Download ratios. If someone had 0 k
- downloaded and anything uploaded it would say their UDRatio was out of
- wack. It's now fixed.
-
- >> Recent Calls now means Recent Logons. Before if someone would enter the
- matrix it would consider it a recent call, now it will only record a
- recent call of someone logs on.
-
- >> When you hit 'S' in the User Editor for User's Stats, you would get your
- stats instead. It's now fixed!
-
- >> Fixed a bug in the batch uploading procedure. If you did a batch upload
- and tagged a file as private or put a password in there, it wouldn't
- register either of them. I zeroed out each of those variables after I
- went to the GetUploadData procedure, instead of before.
