- Extreme BBS Software Documentation
-
-
- Welcome to the Extreme Team. If you are just testing out this
- software, we hope that you will enjoy your demo, and we also hope
- that you will find Extreme BBS Software suitable for your needs,
- and run your BBS on this great software.
-
-
- I. Introduction of Extreme
-
-
- Extreme BBS Software was thought of in early of 1991. The Author
- of this BBS program studied various ways of making his software
- look different from the other BBS programs. He was successful,
- and was born, Extreme BBS Software. Strider, president of PWA,
- and author of Extreme, has had over 9 years of BBSing Experience,
- 10 years of computer experience, and over 6 years of programming
- experience. This program was started in, like I said, early of
- '91, and the first copy, Extreme 1.00 Beta was release to Booker T,
- of The Force BBS, which it was ran under close supervision for bugs,
- and other things. This was released in August of 91.
-
- After over three hard months of testing, Strider released the first
- public release demo of Extreme. Over 4 boards wanted to run it right
- away, and Extreme and Extreme*NET has grown to an ever popularity
- with users, and the sysops of Extreme. Just in the sysop config alone
- the sysop can make his board look different than any other Extreme
- board. By choosing anything from Different headers, to prompts, to
- the ansi menus, Extreme is totally Sysop configurable, and also the
- user can make his side of the BBS experience look original and
- exciting.
-
-
- II. Beta Testing.
-
-
- The first person to run this software was me, Booker T. I was rather
- sick of Telegard, and other BBS programs. Since I was also a PWA
- president, I knew Strider very well, and he allowed me to run his
- software on a beta testing format. I believe I even ran it before
- Strider did. From there, we encountered many bugs, which were vital
- to the running of the software. I told Strider about the bugs ranging
- a time period of 4 versions of Extreme (1.00 through 1.04) and 2
- long months, and Extreme 1.05 (The release Demo) was available for
- the public. After this, 2 locals, Me, and Roger Ramjet, were Beta
- testers for Extreme. After this, 3 other LD boards to 612 were
- wanting to run the software. These boards are Dumper's Den Elite,
- Oz, and Frayed Ends of Insanity. These were the 4 Beta testers added.

-
- Booker T - For all of his great beta testing and development
- of the Extreme software Package.
- Rad Rick - For all of new ideas, and nagging on making his BBS
- work down at Iowa State University. We'll get it
- working before you are a Senior! Haha!
- Dumper - For making me fix all the little bugs before he ran
- it, to make it worth running for other sysops.
- Thanks guy!
- Roger Ramjet - For the ideas for the Net and many more ideas that I
- still haven't put in!
-
- And to whoever I left out that helped on the Extreme project. I hope
- that this software will become as big as any of the others out there.
