  34.       Comment: I just found that compiling on our SUN SPARC with GCC produces
  35.       code that dumps core.. (that might not happen on your machine, try it,
  36.       we may have out-of-date libraries). See netnews gnu.gcc.bug for a dis-
  37.       cussion about the matter. It seems that gcc passes struct's in a
  38.       different manner.

  42.   Edit the include/config.h to your hearts content, avoiding going
  43.   beyond the warning line, unless you are *absolute* sure you know
  44.   what you are doing.
  45.   If you happen to not take to this warning, you may end up with
  46.   a server that will not function properly and annoy not only you,
  47.   but users all around the world.

  49.   Old irc client can be found in this package and if you want to use it,
  50.   check Makefile in directory irc before compiling. There are other,
  51.   better irc clients in distribution and the client distributed with
  52.   this version is simply something to begin with if you don't happen
  53.   to have other clients available.

  58. NOTE: This server does *NOT* have MAIL system installed by default.
  59.       The reason is that it doesn't work with many systems.

  61. This version introduces you string channels, starting with
  62. a plus (+) sign. The first person joining a string channel
  63. claims it's ownership and after that is entitiled to use /mode
  64. command. Ownerships can be given and taken away with
  65. /mode <channel> +o <nickname>  and /mode <channel> -o <nickname>
  66. Other flags are: s - secret, p - private, l - limited, i - inviteonly.
  67.                  m - moderated, n - no private messages to channel,
  68.                  t - topic settable by operator only
  69. New command /KICK <channel> <user> kicks a user off channel.
