<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible">In the Native SQL mode, you enter SQL commands which will not be interpreted by OpenOffice.org Base. You have activated the <span style="font-weight:bold;">SQL</span> tab page of the query design. Since these modifications might not be able to be displayed in the query design, the <span style="font-weight:bold;">Design</span> tab will be highlighted in gray and cannot be called.</help:help-text></p>

<p class="Paragraph"><a name="nativesql"/>For native SQL, the SQL string is forwarded directly to the connected database system without a previous evaluation by OpenOffice.org. For example, if you access a database via ODBC interface, the SQL string will be passed to the ODBC driver and processed by it.</p>
<p class="Paragraph">Click the icon again to switch it back to normal mode, where the changes in<help:link Id="66162" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">Query Design</help:link> are synchronized with changes permitted in the <span class="T1">SQL</span> tab.</p>
