- Notes about file extensions
- IBM PC
-
- Files with the extension .LBR are Library files which contain
- several files necessary to operate a package. The program
- LU.EXE is required to break out the individual files. A LBR
- file is not executable until broken into seperate files.
-
- Files with the extension .LQR are squeezed or packed Library
- files and must be unpacked using USQ.EXE prior to using LU.EXE
- for the break out.
-
- Files with the extension .ARC have been packed as they were
- archived into a library and require ARC.EXE to break out and
- unpack. With ARC.EXE this is done in one operation.
-
- Any program with a "Q" in the middle of the extension, such as
- .BQS or .EQE or .DQC are squeezed files and program USQ.EXE
- is necessary to unpack them into executable form.
-
- Files with the extension .SYS should be used within your
- CONFIG.SYS file. Example : You have a file named EDRV96K.SYS.
- Your CONFIG.SYS file might look like this, DEVICE=EDRV96K.SYS
-
- Files with the extension .DOC should be printed on your printer
- with the following command, "COPY filename.DOC PRN". This
- command should be executed directly from DOS. .DOC files are the
- documentation files for a package, I.E. the package called EASY
- CHECK has two files, they are EASYCHK.EXE and EASYCHK.DOC.
-
- These procedures not only save time in data transmission, but
- cut down in the number of individual files that must be handled
- to obtain a package.
-
- If you would like a complete catalog of all software available,
- send four dollars and a self-addressed stamped 8 1/2" x 11"
- envelope to the address above. Be sure to affix at least sixty-
- five cents postage, at present there are forty pages in the
- catalog. Please make checks payable to Vernon E. Six, Jr.
