-
- * - It has been brought to our attention that some Epson EX-800/1000 users
- have experienced alignment problems using single-wide label stock and EX
- model tractor feeds. Due to the design of the tractor feed mechanism,
- it may not be possible to correctly align the labels in the printer for
- use with the suggested Diskette Manager III label structure file
- (EPSFX35, EPSFX4 and EPSFX5).
-
- If you experience such a problem then you may wish a set of special
- label structure files that are stored on the original diskette. They
- are named EPS-EX35, EPS-EX4 and EPS-EX5.
-
- The design of these label structure files has been changed to use less
- of the label to allow EX model owners to print labels. The label
- designs do not allow as many filenames to appear on the label because of
- the limitation.
-
-
- If your printer is not listed above, try the Epson MX/FX label structure file
- or the Epson LQ label structure file. If neither of these work, then it will
- be necessary to create a specific label structure file for your printer. See
- the "Understanding Report Content" portion of the ADVANCED OPERATIONS section
- of the manual for information regarding this procedure.
-
- If you need assistance in constructing a label structure file for your
- printer, you may call the Technical Support department during the hours listed
- above.

- Use this information to tell Diskette Manager III which label structure file
- to install when the program is run. See the section, "Saving your Label Style
- for Future Use" in the manual for information on selecting a default label
- structure file.
-
-
- For Diskette Manager (Version 2.0) users
-
- The Diskette Manager III disk comes with the program DMUPDATE.COM. This
- program will modify the old DISKNAME file format, that was created by Diskette
- Manager Plus and/or Diskette Manager II (Version 2.0) for use with Diskette
- Manager III.
-
- To use DMUPDATE on Floppy Disk Systems:
- 1. Insert the Diskette Manager III work disk in drive A.
- 2. Insert a diskette that contains the DISKNAME file into drive B.
- 3. At the A> prompt type, DMUPDATE B:DISKNAME <ENTER>
-
- To use DMUPDATE on Hard Disk Systems:
- 1. Log onto the hard disk sub-directory where the DMIII files reside.
- 2. Insert a diskette that contains the DISKNAME file into drive A.
- 3. At the C> prompt type, DMUPDATE A:DISKNAME <ENTER>
-
- Process all the diskettes that you have cataloged using the old version of
- Diskette Manager in this way. When you have completed this process, start
- Diskette Manager III and read these diskettes using the ENTER/READ function.
- All the name and comment information will automatically be recognized by the
- program. Use the "Catalog" function to save this information into the new
- Diskette Manager III catalog that you are building.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- Serial Printer Users
-
- Diskette Manager III is configured to send report and label output to a
- printer that is connected to LPT1, LPT2 or LPT3. If your printer is connected
- serially, then you must configure the system to redirect output to the correct
- COM port.
-
- Example: MODE LPT1:=COM1: <ENTER>
-
- This DOS command causes output to be redirected from parallel port #1 to
- communications port #1. This command can be typed at the DOS prompt or placed
- in a batch file.
-
- NOTE: Diskette Manager III monitors the printer for an error during a print
- cycle. The use of the MODE command to redirect output can delay or
- prevent certain errors from being passed to the computer from the
- printer. Under this condition it is possible that you will not be able
- to interrupt the printing of a report. To prevent loss of data, in the
- event that it becomes necessary to "reboot" the system in order to
- escape the print cycle, use the SETUP/Save command to store your changes
- before printing a report to a serial printer.
-
-
