  12.                                 DESCRIPTION
  13.  
  14.      Lotto Challenger is a commercial quality lotto number selection
  15.      program that can be used with all Pick-5, Pick-6 and Pick-7
  16.      lotteries.  The program uses Statistical Analysis to group the
  17.      numbers drawn in previous drawings into several categories.
  18.      Numbers are grouped into the categories Hot, Cold, Overdue,
  19.      Last Drawing, 1 to 12, 13 to 31, and 32 and up.

  21.      Averages and percentages are calculated for each category for
  22.      the previous drawings.  The "Quick Picks" option automatically
  23.      picks your numbers based on these averages and percentages.  
  24.      The numbers picked can be saved to a file, and then read into
  25.      the "Number Systems" option.  This option allows you to play
  26.      any of the 60 number systems included with Lotto Challenger.
  27.      The program also allows you to enter your own number systems.
  28.  
  29.      The lottery tickets generated from the number systems can be 
  30.      saved to a file and printed.  The "Winner's Circle" option allows
  31.      you to compare your tickets to the lottery numbers that are drawn
  32.      each week, and to display or print a summary of all tickets.

  34.      Weekly drawings are easily entered into Lotto Challenger using
  35.      the "Update Lottery Data" menu option.  Drawings can also be
  36.      modified or deleted if necessary.  A "History Mode" menu option
  37.      allows you to set the calendar back any number of weeks and
  38.      test playing strategies on previous drawings.
  39.  
  40.      Lotto Challenger is completely menu driven and very user friendly.
  41.      You can choose menu selections with the keyboard or a mouse. Help
  42.      screens are always available by pressing the F1 key.

  44.      The program requires an IBM-PC or compatible computer with a
  45.      minimum of 256K of memory and DOS version 2.0 or higher.  A color
  46.      monitor, hard disk and printer are recommended, but not required.
  47.      Graphics capability is not required.

  49.      A data file for the Florida lottery is included with the package
  50.      so that you can begin using the program immediately.  Of course
  51.      you can type in the numbers for your own state if you wish.  A
  52.      current lottery data file of your choice is included with the
  53.      program when you register.  Registered users can order additional 
  54.      data files at a cost of $10.00 per file.

  67.      Since this version is much larger than previous versions, it was
  68.      necessary to compress some of the files in order to distribute all
  69.      the files on one 360K 5 1/4" diskette.  The file FILES.COM is a
  70.      self-extracting compressed file and contains the following files:

  80.      NOTE: If you received Lotto Challenger on a 3 1/2" 720K diskette, 
  81.      there is enough room on the diskette for all program files without
  82.      compressing.  Therefore, there may not be a FILES.COM file on the
  83.      diskette.  If so, you can ignore the following paragraph.

  85.      Before extracting these files, it will be necessary to copy the
  86.      file FILES.COM either to another formatted floppy diskette or to
  87.      your hard disk.  DO NOT attempt to extract the files prior to 
  88.      copying the file, since there is not enough space on one 360K
  89.      diskette for all the files.  Once you have copied the file, you can
  90.      extract all the files by simply typing "FILES" and pressing the
  91.      ENTER key.  Once you have extracted the files, you can delete the
  92.      file FILES.COM.

  94.      * NOTE:  The filenames which have an asterisk next to their name
  95.      are critical for operation of the program.  If you plan to use
  96.      Lotto Challenger from a 360K 5 1/4" diskette, we recommend that
  97.      that you copy the following critical files to a formatted 
  98.      diskette and use this diskette as your program diskette:

  112.      If you are using only 360K 5 1/4" diskettes and you play more than
  113.      one lottery, it may be necessary to make a program diskette for
  114.      each lottery you play, especially if the lotteries you play pick a
  115.      different number of numbers.  A good example is the Florida lottery
  116.      (Pick-6) and the Florida Fantasy 5 game (Pick-5).  For this example
  117.      you should have two program diskettes with the following files:

  132.                               GETTING STARTED
  133.  
  134.      Lotto Challenger is by design, easy to learn and use.  However, we
  135.      recommend that you print the documentation file, LC.DOC, and read
  136.      it before using the program.  An illustrated Lotto Challenger 
  137.      Instruction manual is available to registered users for only $6.50.
  138.      You should also read the files CHANGES.TXT, SYSTEMS.TXT and BOOKS.TXT.

  140.      To print any of these files, type "TYPE A:FILENAME.EXT > PRN",
  141.      substituting FILENAME.EXT with the actual name and extension of the
  142.      file.  For example, to print the file CHANGES.TXT, you should type
  143.      "TYPE A:CHANGES.TXT > PRN" (without the quotation marks).  This
  144.      example assumes your Lotto Challenger program diskette is in drive A.

  146.      Be sure to change to the default drive or subdirectory before running 
  147.      Lotto Challenger.  For example, to run Lotto Challenger from the 
  148.      "A" drive, you should first type "A:" and press Enter (without the 
  149.      quotes).  If your Lotto Challenger files are on your hard drive in
  150.      a subdirectory named "Lotto" in the root directory, then you should
  151.      first type "CD \Lotto" and press Enter (without the quotes).  To
  152.      start the program, type "LC" and press Enter.

  160.      hours spent in some way, form, or fashion getting Lotto Challenger
