The new release features loadable object modules that allow GraphRight's functionality to be expanded at run-time. Currently a DBKit object module is provided allowing database queries to be placed directly into a GraphRight notebook. Each new database query updates all the graphs related to the query results. Additional loadable object modules will be created by Watershed Technologies and select consultants.
GraphRight was the first commercial application to feature a Distributed Object API, allowing programmers to easily add advanced data visualization capability into their custom applications. Watershed has expanded the API once again for this release. Using the API's objects to shuttle data and commands to GraphRight, you can allow users to create professional graphs without ever leaving your application. The API also allows data (such as a stock feed) to be imported in real-time. In addition, GraphRight can be seamlessly integrated with popular spreadsheets to enhance your graphing power.
GraphRight also supports limited statistical analysis tools including first order linear regression, and error bars by standard deviation, standard error, individual data point, fixed value, and percent of value.
Utilizing dynamic object linking, graphs in GraphRight can be linked into any word processor or presentation package. This feature eliminates the need to repeatedly copy and paste a graph when it is changed. Once a graph is linked into another application, any future changes you make in GraphRight are automatically reflected in that application. Linking into GraphRight is also possible. For example, equations can be typeset in an equation editor and linked into GraphRight as labels. Each time the equation is changed GraphRight will automatically update the labels.
GraphRight features a wide selection of business and financial graph types. Included is a full featured drawing package and full support for the dragging and dropping of files, images, and colors, allowing you to produce stunning and effective presentations with ease. A full rich text word processor complete with spell checking in every language NeXTStep supports is also integrated into the package. Using these tools, graphs can be comprehensively and easily annotated.
GraphRight features dynamicaly loaded file filters, currently filters for Lotus123 (wks, wk1), SYLK, and any ASCII format. Additionaly Watershed Technology has licensed Microsoft Excel, Lotus 123 v3, Lotus Improv, and Harvard Graphics file formats, these will be provided on a customer demand basis.
Finally, GraphRight features a simple table-based data editor for easy data entry and modification.
