  1. Desktop is not just another virtual screen manager.  Putting
  2. aside the virtual screen related functions, Desktop allows you to operate
  3. on the three type of objects namely Windows, NeXTApp Icons and Desktop
  4. Icons.
  5.  
  6. Window operations  
  7. ================= 
  8. A window can be moved from one virtual screen to another, fronted, backed,
  9. adjusted, floated, raised or lowerd.  Also available are
  10. front/adjust/lower all windows. 
  11.  
  12. NeXTApp Icons
  13. ============= 
  14. NeXTApp Icons are those that gather at the lower left corner of your screen. 
  15. They can be fronted (so that they appear before windows), backed, hidden,
  16. tidied (or ask Desktop to auto-tidy for you) and grouped by application. 
  17.  
  18. Desktop Icons 
  19. ============= 
  20. These icons function like those in the NeXTdock.  You can double-click on
  21. them or make they autolaunch in any of the virtual screens!  And further, they
  22. can be created from applications, documents or folders.

  24. They can be moved from screen to screen, floated or hidden.  Of course, they
  25. can be stored for future work sessions. 
  26.  
  27. The advanced features that support the virtual screens are three window
  28. modes namely: 
  29.     autoScreen mode    -- Desktop will switch to the screen that contains
  30.                   the needed window
  31.  
  32.     autoWindow mode -- the needed window will be moved to the active screen 
  33.     plain mode -- Desktop does nothing.
  34.  
  35. In addition, when you drag a window to the screen boundary, Desktop will
  36. auto-flip to the next screen.  This is called Auto-Flip feature which can be
  37. conveniently enabled/disabled so as to avoid unnecessary screen
  38. flipping.

  40. Version 2.0 comes with an object inspector, a palette and a Desktop Window so
  41. that you can enjoy a gentle learning curve.  Other input methods are
  42. available for speedy actions.

  44. What is the price?  $30 per copy.  It supports NeXTstep 2.x and NeXTstep 3.0. 
  45. "QuickStart" are enhanced and "Quick Guide for the Impatient" are included
  46. to let you easily pick up Desktop.  All registered users are entitled to free
  47. upgrade to version 2.0.
