  1. This package contains the EnhanceMail bundle.  This bundle extends the
  2. capabilities of Mail.app 3.3 by adding quoting, signatures, X face
  3. support, a distributed, cached user-image database, full-text indices
  4. and a number of other features.  To enable it install
  5. EnhanceMail.bundle anywhere in the mail bundle path (~/Library/Mail,
  6. /LocalLibrary/Mail, /NextLibrary/Mail, and the Mail application
  7. wrapper itself) and restart Mail.app.  The recommended location for
  8. system-wide installation is /LocalLibrary/Mail, for personal
  9. installation ~/Library/Mail.  After installing the bundle, a more
  10. detailed description of its capabilities can be found at the end of
  11. the Mail.app online help.

  13. Note that this bundle will _only_ work with Mail.app 3.3.  Earlier
  14. versions of Mail.app can not be extended by external bundles.  Initial
  15. reports indicate that this bundle will only work partially with
  16. Mail.app 4.0 and that configuration is not recommended.  However there
  17. are reports of success with this bundle using Mail.app 3.3 on NS 3.2
  18. systems.  Conceivably the bundle could also work with Mail.app 3.3
  19. running under OS4.0+, but this has not been tested.  The author plans
  20. to release new versions of this bundle as new versions of Mail.app
  21. become available to him.

  23. IMPORTANT: There is a confirmed bug in Mail.app 3.3 which causes it to
  24. crash if more than one directory in the mail bundle path (see above)
  25. contains more than one bundle.  For example, you could have one bundle
  26. in each of the given directories and a dozen in ~/Library/Mail, but
  27. you could not have two bundles in ~/Library/Mail and two in
  28. /LocalLibrary/Mail.
