  2. This is Columns Version 1.97b, a beta of the latest Columns.
  3. It features many improvements over the versions previously
  4. on the archives, including, but not limited to:
  5.  
  6.     NeXTSTEP 3.0 Help
  7.     Network HighScores via Distributed Objects
  8.         (grab the gamekit if you want to
  9.         set up a server, lately there has
  10.         been a server at fermat.dartmouth.edu
  11.         but it may not be updated to the
  12.         latest version for a while...)
  13.     Sound and Music simultaneously
  14.     New images and sounds
  15.     Many bug fixes and tweaks/refinements
  16.     Full use of my GameKit package
  17.  
  18. Columns is shareware and requires a $10 registration fee.
  19. Those who send in the registration fee are entitled to
  20. a copy of the complete source code.  Since Columns relies
  21. upon my GameKit, about 60-80% of the code it uses is in
  22. the GameKit, which may be found on ftp.byu.edu in pub/next.
  23. (You need both daymisckit and the gamekit as well as the
  24. CCRMA 3.1 music kit to do gamekit related stuff.)  When
  25. the GameKit approaches stability, I will submit it to the
  26. regular NeXT archives.

  33. If you find any bugs in this beta version, let me know; I'm
  34. still stomping on bugs in the GameKit, and your assistance
  35. will help me get the new PillBottle, PacMan, NX_Invaders,
  36. UnderMiner, and a few other surprises out the door that much
  37. faster.
