- When Joe Reiss (jreiss@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu) posted a collection of color
- fish for use with AquariumView.BackModule, I was inspired. I set out to assemble
- another suite for all the devout NextStep ichthyophiles out there, with the following
- goals in mind:
-
- 1) Individual fish should be compatible in an aquarium environment. In some other
- collections, fish would have died from unsuitable salinity, or from being eaten
- by the other fish.
-
- 2) Fish should be in proper scale with respect to one another (more or less).
-
- 3) Fish should be scanned in full 24 bit color, to show off the snazziness of our
- hardware.
-
- The present collection of nine achieves these goals. Our friends are in 24-bit color
- with alpha, 72 dpi. As shipped, they come in a directory called "fresh" (all are
- fresh-water critters), which you can rename "FishFolder" depending on your version
- of the AquariumView module, and your personal preference. This directory also
- includes brief .info files on each. They look best on a black background.
-
- Thanks to Joe Reiss for pointing out that the fish images had to be square. Now, to
- folks out there with the AquariumView source, a manifesto: Let us rewrite it to
- accept .anim directories of fish-frames, so that, finally, we can lay to rest the only
- remaining solid argument for using Windows or Mac as opposed to NextStep!
-
- Cheers!
