- SPECIAL NOTE ON CD ROM PROGRAMS:
-
- Beware that the driver needed to run your CD Rom drive is a program,
- and takes up space in memory just like any other program. If your CD
- Rom Driver is loaded into low memory you may find yourself running out
- of memory when trying to run larger programs. If you encounter this
- problem, you have two choices: 1) Load the CD Rom Driver into High
- Memory or 2) Temporarily remove the CD Rom Driver from the System Boot
- Up after you have installed the program you wish to run. Since both of
- these solutions require some technical knowledge, please consult your
- DOS manual and/or a technician on your computer memory issue.
-
-
- In order to run the program, the files must first be installed on your
- hard drive. These are the complete files, from the author without any
- modifications by Imagitec. To install the program, select "Install."
- CD Rom programs are installed on your hard drive for faster program
- operation and efficient saving.
-
- Files for each individual program will be stored inside their own
- subdirectory inside of the IMAGCD main directory.
-
- For example:
-
- Program Name: Wolfenstein
- Drive: C
- Main Directory: IMAGCD
- Subdirectory: Wolf3d
-
- File Storage Location: C:\IMAGCD\Wolf3d
-
- To Run The Program From The Imagitec Menu:
- After selecting the program, simply type "I" for install. Imagitec will
- search for and run the program. DOS programs will begin instantly. You
- will be given a special message if the program requires Windows. Windows
- will be started and then the program will begin. The Menu can be started
- by typing IMAGCD at the C: prompt in DOS.
-
- Running The Program From The DOS Prompt (For DOS Programs Only):
- To run the program from the hard drive, you will have to make sure you
- are in the right directory before entering the command to start the
- program. To find the program after installation, at the DOS prompt type:
-
- > c: (press enter, selects the C drive)
- > cd IMAGCD (selects the IMAGCD directory)
- > cd WOLF3D (press enter, selects the program subdirectory)
-
- Please note: Many DOS applications were designed to run in DOS only
- because they demand all of your system's resources to run. In these
- cases you will have to exit Windows and start from the DOS prompt.
-
- Running The Program From Windows: (Windows Programs Only) After
- starting Windows File Manager, simply choose the ".exe" file from
- the program subdirectory as mentioned in the program installation.
- Imagitec does not make any modication to your system files when
- installing programs. The advantage to this is that it is easy and safe
- to install and remove programs. The disadvantage is that icons will not
- be setup. Both the Imagitec Menu (type IMAGCD at the C: prompt) and the
- the Windows file manager can be used to start programs.
