-
- NOTE:

- 'BLASTER' environment variable set up in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
-
- As an example:
-
- SET BLASTER=A240 I10 D1 T3
-
- This will allow the program to detect and use the sound card. The actual
- setting of this variable will obviously depend on the type of sound blaster
- card and how the card is configured on your machine. Please refer to your
- soundcard documentation as to the actual values needed.
-
- 7) HOW TO PLAY
- --------------
- Full details of how to use the program can be found from the main menu. Here,
- the objective of darts will be explained (If you don't already know.)
-
- Each player starts the game with 501 points on the scoreboard. In order to
- win,the player must reduce the score to 0.
- To acheive this, each player takes it in turn throwing 3 darts at the board,
- and the accumulative score of the 3 darts will be subtracted from the points
- that the player has left.
- In order to win,the player must not only reduce the score to 0,but the player
- must finish by hitting a 'DOUBLE',or alternately hitting the 'BULLSEYE'.
-
- The dartboard is split into 20 segments and each segment has 3 values.
- The large OUTER RING has a value of '2x' the number it represents('DOUBLE')
- The smaller INNER RING has a value of '3x' the number it represents('TREBLE')
- The rest of each segment has the value of the number it represents('SINGLE')
-
- The large OUTER RING is what you need to hit in order to win.
-
- The centre of the board has 2 rings:-
- The outermost ring has a value of 25.
- The innermost ring has a value of 50 (known as the 'BULLSEYE'.)
-
- The game is split into what are called 'LEGS' and 'SETS'.Each leg corresponds
- to a single game, when the player wins the required number of legs, the player
- wins the set.
- This continues until the player wins the required number of sets in order to
- win a match.
- In tournament mode,if you are playing the final set, then you must win by
- 2 clear legs in order to win the match.
-
- 8) DIGITIZED SPEECH
- -------------------
- To take advantage of the digitized speech,if you have a compatable soundcard,
- then you need to have an expanded memory manager loaded that can provide
- the LIM EMS 4.00 or better specification.
-
- This memory manager is loaded into memory via CONFIG.SYS
- Therefore add this line to your CONFIG.SYS file:-
-
- DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE 1024 RAM
-
- (Note:This must be placed directly after the line for HIMEM.SYS)
-
- (You will replace 'C:\WINDOWS\' with the actual location of EMM386.EXE)
-
- This will give you 1 meg of EMS memory.
-
- If you have some other memory manager instead of EMM386.EXE then please
- refer to your expanded memory manager documentation for the correct command
- necessary to obtain EMS memory.
-
