- <1>>> System Requirements
- -------------------------
-
- Paltrix requires least 256K of memory, VGA, Microsoft or compatible mouse
- and about 100k of free disk space.
-
- ----------------------
- <2>>>> Getting Starting
- ----------------------
-
- Paltrix lets you customize the appearance of Matrix for pleasure or purpose.
- Those with plasma displays or grayscale LCD may find changing the colors
- necessary.
-
- At the DOS prompt enter Paltrix. Move the move over the ok button
- and press a mouse button. You should see a very colorful screen.
-
- The current work color is outlined in white. You can select a different color
- by moving the mouse cursor tip over the color and pressing the left mouse
- button. Adjust the work color by positioning the mouse cursor inside the red,
- green or blue lever boxes and while holding the left mouse button ,dragging
- the lever to the desired position, or by tapping upon the red, green or blue
- arrow boxes , a more precise adjustment can be made.
-
- To make color editing easier ,the play pieces have been scaled up in size. You
- can point and click on these to edit their colors directly. You may do this
- with the mock up of the play screen also.
-
- Moving to the upper right corner of the screen and pressing the left mouse
- button or clicking the right mouse button anywhere on the screen displays
- the menu list. Without holding any mouse buttons move the mouse up or down
- and when the desired selection is reached click the left mouse button.
-
- ---------------
- <3>>>> The Menu
- ---------------
-
- () Load - The load option searches the current directory for palette files
- and displays them in a menu. Select the file you wish to view
- or edit by holding down the left mouse button and moving to the
- file name you wish to load. Or use the scroll arrows aside the
- file list. Press the "ok" button and the palette file selected
- is loaded and the values it contains are displayed. Click on
- the "Cancel" button to abort the operation.
-
- () Save - Save the current values of the palette under the current file
- name.
-
- () Save As - Save the current palette under a name of your choosing.
-
- () MakeDef - (MakeDefault ) Restores the Default pal for matrix and saves it.
-
- () MakeGry - (Make Grey) turns all color values to the nearest grey scale
- equivalent.
-
- () Swap and Same - The swap option allows you to exchange the location
- of two colors and the same option will repeat the
- selected color. When using these functions help notes
- are printed at the bottom of the screen.
-
- () Menu off - When you have had enough of looking at the menu.
-
-
- () Quit - The fun is over . Be sure to save your great palette
- before you leave.

- <5>>>> TroubleShooting
- ----------------------
-
- P. No mouse cursor.
- S. (1) Try to remedy the problem by using a recent or altogether
- different mouse driver with your mouse. I have used Microsoft mouse
- drivers successfully with other mouse types.
-
- (2) Check to see that attribute number 15 color is not black. This is
- the attribute the mouse uses for its color.
