- <h5>Backgammon</h5>
- <p>If your opponent still has pieces remaining in his home table (i.e.
- their first six points on the board) or on the bar, and has yet to
- bear off, you win with a backgammon, scoring treble points.
- </p>
- <h5>Bar</h5>
- <p>The bar is the centre vertical area of the board. Captured chequers
- are removed to here.
- </p>
- <h5>Bearing Off</h5>
- <p>The process of removing chequers from the board is known as bearing off.
- The winner is the first player to bear off all their chequers.
- </p>
- <h5>Chequer</h5>
- <p>The pieces that players move around the board. Each player starts with 15 chequers.
- </p>
- <h5>Cube</h5>
- <p>The doubling cube, used to double the value of a win.
- </p>
- <h5>Gammon</h5>
- <p>If you win whilst opponent has yet to
- bear off, you win with a gammon, scoring double points.
- </p>
- <h5>Jacoby Rule</h5>
- <p>When the Jacoby rules is enabled, a gammon or backgammon
- will not count unless the doubling cube has been turned.
- </p>
- <h5>Prime</h5>
- <p>A block of six points held by a player is known a prime.
- </p>
- <h5>Runner</h5>
- <p>The two chequers starting on the 24-point are the runners, having the furthers distance to move.
