-
- Now that this is out of the way, lets get on to the good stuff.
-
- FEATURES:
-
- This is a TriBBS utility that creates an both ANSI and ASCII File Area Screens
- that are DIRSn.ANS and DIRSn.bbs. Where 'n' can either be a security level
- number or 'ALL' for all users.
-
- !WARNING! !WARNING! !WARNING! !WARNING! !WARNING! !WARNING! !WARNING!
- This program will copy your DIRSn.ANS & DIRSn.bbs to your
- C:\tribbs\display area.....so if you are using these types of screens
- now, you may want to back them up or copy them to another directory..
-
- Now what this program will offer is: 15 different color selections, it will
- allow you to select a color for the file area numbers, and allow you to select
- a color for the file area descriptions. You can select either 2 or 3 columns
- per page. Also, you can create one long listing or create multiple pages that will clear screen
- from one screen to another, and will also allow you to add a header name for
- each screen page or if you prefer, you can crete one long page with just one
- header. Only thing needed to know prior to running this program, is what file
- areas numbers you want to define per page. This is a great feature for sysops
- that run one to many CD-ROMS on their system, and have them set up in their
- file area to run one CD-ROM after another...
-
- Example of how my file area is and how you can use this program:
-
- File area numbers 1 through 21 is harddrive file areas and can be one page
- with it's own header.
- File area numbers 22 through 80 is CD-ROM number 1 and can be the second
- screen page with it's own header name.
- File area 81 through 122 is CD-ROM number 2 and can be the third page with
- it's own header name...
- etc...
-
- I suppose the greatest feature is that the screens are security definable.
- This means, if you want to create a dirs50.ans & dirs50.bbs, this program will
- read the file area .DAT file and grab just those file areas that just has that
- file security level. Can be configured and used for multinodes, especially if
- each node uses their own display directory.
-
- INSTALLATION and CONFIG FILE:
-
- Copy the DIRLIST.EXE to a directory that is in your path statement. Make
- a configuation file (can be named anything) and place it in your node's main
- directory. If you have a multinode systems where each node uses their own
- seperate display dirtory, then make a config file for each Node's main
- directory and give them different names.
-
- Example of the command line operation that you enter is as follows:
-
- DIRLIST DIR.CFG
-
- The config file is a simple one line config file that is very easy to set up
- and can be named anything you wish. This makes it easy to set up for Multinode
- systems setups.
-
- Sample config file as follows:
-
- C:\TRIBBS <- Path to Node one's main directory
- C:\TRIBBS <- Path to this Node's directory
- 70 <- Highest File Security that you want your DIRSALL.* to go
- when this option is used.
-
- HINT:
- If you have private or restricted file areas and don't want users to see
- and show in your DIRSALL.* Screens, then give them a higher security level
- over the security level specified in your config file
-
-
- RUNNING THE PROGRAM:
-
- First question will ask:
- "Enter Assignment for DIRSn.ans & DIRSn.BBS (0 to Quit):"
-
- Here you would select a "SECURITY LEVEL" or "ALL" for your type of Screens.
- If you select a certain security level, then only those file areas will
- print to the screen file that match the security level that you have assigned
- to those file areas in TriMan. If you seclect all, then it will print all
- security levels up to and including the security level specified on line
- 2 of you config file.
-
- Second question will ask :
- "Do you want multiple pages? (y/N):"
-
- If you enter no (Which is the default), then this will create one long listing
- of your file areas based on what you enter in the previous question. If you
- select yes, then you will be prompted with the follow questions:
-
- 1). "Enter File Directory Number to start this Screen page:"
- Here you would enter the first file area number that you want to start
- printing to this screen page.
-
- 2). "Enter File Directory Number to End this Screen Page:"
- Here you would enter the last file area to print up to on this page.
-
- NOTE:
- The reasoning behind this is, if you want to create multiple pages, but only
- what a certain range of file areas to be on that page, this will allow you
- to do so. By that, I mean if you select 1 to 21, then this could be your
- harddrive file areas, or a cd-rom. Then on the next page you can enter lets
- say 22 to 80, and this can be another cd-rom.
- Also, each page will clear screen prior to showing the next page to give a
- nice neat appearance to the user.
-
- Third question will ask:
- "What is the Header Name for this Screen Page"
-
- This pretty much means what it says, however, if you are creating multiple
- pages, then you can use a different header name for each page you create.
-
- Fourth question will ask:
- "Select Color for File Directory Numbers:"
-
- You can select a color for the file area number here. Also if you selected
- mulitple pages, then each page will allow you to select a different color
- for the numbers on that page.
-
- Fifth question will ask:
- "Select Color for File Directory Descriptions:"
- You can select a color for the file area descriptions here, Also if you
- selected multiple pages, then each page will allow you to select a different
- color for the descriptions on that page.
-
- Sixth question will ask:
- "What color do you want for this header"
- You can select a color for the Header Name here, Also if you selected
- multiple pages, then each page will allow you to select a different color
- for the header name on that page.
-
- Final question will ask:
- If you want to create another page, this is if you have select the multiple
- page option mention earlier, if so, then you will select yes to continue to
- the next page.
-
-
-
- Many hours of hard work has gone into this program to make life a little
- easier for the TriBBS sysop, especially with the on growth of CD-ROM's.
- All attemps have been made to catch any bugs, but that does not mean
- someone out there cannnot create or find one, so with this in mind, please
- take the time and drop me a note (via WME) or call my BBS and let me know of
- any problems that may arise, so I can swiftly correct the problem.
-
- Thanks,
- Gary Price
