- North Country Computer Net
- 45 Summer St./P.O. Box 243
- Lancaster, NH 03584
-
- BBS (603) 788-2251 16.8K
- Voice (603) 788-3326 Regular business hours, EST
-
-
- ┌──────────┐
- │┌─────────┴┐
- └┤ WELCOME! │
- └──────────┘
-
- Thank you for taking an interest in Yankee Net. We would like to
- invite you to join the friendliest message network ever.
-
- Yankee Net can offer you and your callers a friendly and relaxed
- atmosphere where you can join in conversation with people all
- around the world. Because we are all "family," we aren't as
- strict on the rules as most nets, and we care about each other.
-
- Yankee Net is a .QWK compatible network. This will work with the
- latest Tom Cat mail door, Qmail, Markmail, CamMail, and lots of
- other mail doors.
-
- If your BBS is new, or in a rural community, that is just fine with
- us. You and your users are always welcome in Yankee Net.
-
-

- └┤ Who's in charge? │
- └──────────────────┘
-
- The head administrator of Yankee Net is Wayne LaBonte of North Country
- BBS in New Hampshire. He is a 100% Serviced Connected Vet who spends
- most of his days and nights SysOp'ing and running this net. This net
- and his BBS is his main enjoyment. You can call his BBS just about
- any time day or night and he'll answer your page.
-
- NOTE: Wayne Labonte has the final say in any issue or disagreement
- concerning the net.
-

- └┤ How do I join? │
- └────────────────┘
-
- First, fill out the accompanying YANKEE.APP application.
-
- Second, find a hub in the NODE.LST file, and make contact with
- the SysOp of that BBS. Upload your completed YANKEE.APP file.
- The SysOp will help you get going from that point.
-
- Third, be sure to announce the addition of this net on your BBS.
- Let us know who some of your messaging users are, and we'll strike
- up some conversation with them.
-
-
-
- ┌────────────────┐
- │┌───────────────┴┐
- └┤ Considerations │
- └────────────────┘
-
- Although you pay nothing for the messages you send and receive in
- Yankee Net, you must decide if you can afford to take on the overall
- expense of netmail.
-
- The costs of netmail are incurred by long distance telephone charges
- on your phone bill. If you have a high speed modem, the daily
- mail-run telephone calls will only be 2-5 minutes long. That's
- about 50¢ a day at average, or about $15 per month. If you
- don't have a high speed modem, the cost would be 4 or 5 times
- that amount.
