- RecoverNet is a mail network oriented towards members of 12 Step
- Fellowships and others who are recoving or seeking recovery from
- Alcoholism or Drug Addiction. All are welcome to participate but,
- are asked to limit there sharing to their own experiences.
-
- You'll be amazed how many users who call your system will be
- interested in RecoverNet. We recovering folks lurk everywhere. [g]
-
- To become a RecoverNet node simply complete the RECOVER.APP and send
- it to:
- LifeLine (12 Step Oriented) BBS
- 4160 Admiralty Way, #1A
- Marina Del Rey, Ca 90292
-
- Or, send it electronically to the board at (310)823-6686
-
- It won't take long to get you set up.
-
- -----------------
- Network Guidlines
-
- There will be few 'policies' for the net and the ones that do exist
- will be treated much as the Traditions are in the fellowships.
- People will be made aware of problems and will be asked to conform
- to the guidlines of the network.
-
- 1. All conferences will allow the use of an ALIAS (FAKE NAME) but,
- all MUST be in good taste. The decision on this rests SOLELY with
- the Network SysOp (me...) If you wish to post with your real name it
- is your decision.
-
- 2. Because of the nature of the network all participants are
- requested to respect the anonymity of others.
-
- 3. Play nice with the other kids and share your toys.
-
- 4. The RecoverNet Admin conference must be carried on all nodes and
- must be set to PRIVATE.
-
- 5. The Recovernet News conference must be carried on all nodes and
- must be set to public. It is also READ ONLY. There is a 'user'
- conference for users to post requests, problems, etc.
-
- 6. There are NO provisions for PRIVATE messages within the network.
-
-
- For now that's all there is on policies and I hope the list doesn't
- grow to large.

- Mail Transfer Methods
-
- RECOVERNET is available via Tomcat Mail Door. NetSysops will be
- given access to special mail system hooks to facilitate the fastest
- possible mail transfers. Transfers can be accomplished at virtually
- any time since the system NEVER shuts down for events.
-
- We now have one hub which provides RecoverNet via FIDO. It is located
- in Detroit. Very likely, it won't be long before more systems offer
- this optional transfer method.
-
- A special option of having your mail packets pre-scanned and ready
- for download is be available, if you pick up your packets directly
- from LifeLine. Other WC hubs may offer this feature; it's up to the
- SysOp. Boy do I wish other BBS softwares would use this feature.
- It's a real time saver.
-
- --------------------
- System Login Process
-
- There are two NETSYSOP options for logging on to LifeLine:
-
- The first is !FIRST LAST PASSWORD - This option takes you directly
- to the mail door, completely bypassing the BBS. Once your mail runs
- are completed you can Quit to the board or issue Goodbye. MAKE NOTE
- OF THE ! IN FRONT OF THE LOGON INFORMATION.
-
- The second is *FIRST LAST PASSWORD - This option takes you directly
- to the Main Menu of the BBS. From here there are options for Express
- Download (command *) or Express Upload (command %). Either option
- automatically returns you to the system when complete. Or, go to the
- Message Menu and select [A]utomated Mail.
-
- You will find the prompt system at LifeLine has been highly
- customized. But, the only prompts that should effect you are as
- follows:
-
- All Menus end with the word command - File Command, Message Command
- Main Command.........
-
- The keystroke for joining a conference is C (Change Conference) from
- any menu.
-
- The keystroke for accessing the mail door is A (Automated Mail) from
- the Message Menu. Shortly there will be a special hook from the main
- menu.
-
- For those using Robocomm 4.x or higher, I have included ROBOLIFE.ZIP
- which contains a special prompt file for LifeLine. It has been tested
- thoroughly and will work fine. I set up your account ready for Robo,
- with the exception of conference selections. Robocomm will take full
- advantage of the Wildcat fast login feature.
-
- A quick way to select/deselect conferences with Wildcat BBS software
- is to do it from the Message Menu the first time, rather than from
- the mail door. This is because in the mail door you must select each
- conference individually, while from the Message Menu you can do so
- by groups. Just use the command P (Preselect Conferences) from the
- Message Menu.
-

- Hubs
-
- Currently there are 6 hubs available for you to call. As the need for
- more hubs grows, more will be added. Of course, anyone may call
- LifeLine directly for their mail but, the phone costs may be less by
- using a hub. Hubs are noted in the RCVNET.NOD file.
-
-
- Well, I can't think of anything else right now. The network is growing
- steadily. If you come up with something, let me know.
