  1. RecoverNet is a mail network oriented towards members of 12 Step
  2. Fellowships and others who are recoving or seeking recovery from
  3. Alcoholism or Drug Addiction. All are welcome to participate but,
  4. are asked to limit there sharing to their own experiences.

  6. You'll be amazed how many users who call your system will be
  7. interested in RecoverNet. We recovering folks lurk everywhere. [g]

  9. To become a RecoverNet node simply complete the RECOVER.APP and send
  10. it to:

  20. Network Guidlines
  21.  
  22. There will be few 'policies' for the net and the ones that do exist
  23. will be treated much as the Traditions are in the fellowships.
  24. People will be made aware of problems and will be asked to conform
  25. to the guidlines of the network.

  27. 1. All conferences will allow the use of an ALIAS (FAKE NAME) but,
  28. all MUST be in good taste. The decision on this rests SOLELY with
  29. the Network SysOp (me...) If you wish to post with your real name it
  30. is your decision.

  32. 2. Because of the nature of the network all participants are
  33. requested to respect the anonymity of others.
  34.  
  35. 3. Play nice with the other kids and share your toys.
  36.  
  37. 4. The RecoverNet Admin conference must be carried on all nodes and
  38. must be set to PRIVATE.
  39.  
  40. 5. The Recovernet News conference must be carried on all nodes and
  41. must be set to public. It is also READ ONLY. There is a 'user' 
  42. conference for users to post requests, problems, etc.

  44. 6. There are NO provisions for PRIVATE messages within the network.

  47. For now that's all there is on policies and I hope the list doesn't
  48. grow to large.

  52. Mail Transfer Methods
  53.  
  54. RECOVERNET is available via Tomcat Mail Door. NetSysops will be
  55. given access to special mail system hooks to facilitate the fastest
  56. possible mail transfers. Transfers can be accomplished at virtually
  57. any time since the system NEVER shuts down for events.
  58.  
  59. We now have one hub which provides RecoverNet via FIDO. It is located
  60. in Detroit. Very likely, it won't be long before more systems offer
  61. this optional transfer method.

  63. A special option of having your mail packets pre-scanned and ready
  64. for download is be available, if you pick up your packets directly
  65. from LifeLine. Other WC hubs may offer this feature; it's up to the
  66. SysOp. Boy do I wish other BBS softwares would use this feature.

  70. System Login Process

  72. There are two NETSYSOP options for logging on to LifeLine:
  73.  
  74. The first is !FIRST LAST PASSWORD - This option takes you directly
  75. to the mail door, completely bypassing the BBS. Once your mail runs
  76. are completed you can Quit to the board or issue Goodbye. MAKE NOTE
  77. OF THE ! IN FRONT OF THE LOGON INFORMATION.

  79. The second is *FIRST LAST PASSWORD - This option takes you directly
  80. to the Main Menu of the BBS. From here there are options for Express
  81. Download (command *) or Express Upload (command %). Either option
  82. automatically returns you to the system when complete. Or, go to the
  83. Message Menu and select [A]utomated Mail.

  85. You will find the prompt system at LifeLine has been highly
  86. customized. But, the only prompts that should effect you are as
  87. follows:

  89. All Menus end with the word command - File Command, Message Command
  90. Main Command.........

  92. The keystroke for joining a conference is C (Change Conference) from
  93. any menu.
  94.  
  95. The keystroke for accessing the mail door is A (Automated Mail) from
  96. the Message Menu. Shortly there will be a special hook from the main
  97. menu.

  99. For those using Robocomm 4.x or higher, I have included ROBOLIFE.ZIP
  100. which contains a special prompt file for LifeLine. It has been tested
  101. thoroughly and will work fine. I set up your account ready for Robo,
  102. with the exception of conference selections. Robocomm will take full
  103. advantage of the Wildcat fast login feature.

  105. A quick way to select/deselect conferences with Wildcat BBS software
  106. is to do it from the Message Menu the first time, rather than from
  107. the mail door. This is because in the mail door you must select each
  108. conference individually, while from the Message Menu you can do so
  109. by groups. Just use the command P (Preselect Conferences) from the
  110. Message Menu.

  113. Hubs

  115. Currently there are 6 hubs available for you to call. As the need for
  116. more hubs grows, more will be added. Of course, anyone may call
  117. LifeLine directly for their mail but, the phone costs may be less by
  118. using a hub. Hubs are noted in the RCVNET.NOD file.
