- PswMsg is a small FD utility that (hopefully) will make your
- life, and maybe others too, easier. Whenever you changes your
- AKA list, adding or deleting an AKA, use PswMsg to inform the
- SysOps you have a session password with about the change,
- so that they can keep their security manager up to date.
-
- PswMsg is very simple to use, just create a file named
- PSWMSG.MSG which should contain the text of the message
- you're going to send, and then type PSWMSG at the DOS prompt.
- (Or why not use your favorite pointing device, and double click
- at PswMsg's icon if you're using Windows :-) ).
-
- PswMsg will create one message / unique password defined
- in FD's Security Manager. It compares the password case
- insensitive, so it doesn't matter how you have typed the
- passwords. PswMsg ignores all entries in the security
- manager with empty passwords, and the entries which are
- inactive or have Mail=No.
-
- The message will have the first user defined in Setup
- has the sender, and SysOp as the receiver. The message
- will be marked Local, Kill/Sent, Pvt.
-
- There are some small things to remember about the PSWMSG.MSG
- file.
-
- 1) The first line of this file will be the subject of the
- message.
-
- 2) Write each paragraph on _one_ line, do not press <Enter>
- between each line in a paragraph. This will make the text
- look nice when the receiver reads it.
-
- 3) There are two macros you can use in the text; @MyAKA
- and @YourAKA. @MyAKA expands to all the AKAs you have
- defined, and @YourAKA expands to the AKAs that are
- defined in your Security Manager for the receiver of
- the message (remember, one message / password).
-
- 4) There is no way to get the password into the message.
- I believe that would be a security problem, since
- some of the messages probably will be routed.
-
- The message will be addressed to an AKA in a zone you're in
- or, if there is no one in the same zone, to an AKA in a
- domain that you're a member of. If there are more than one
- AKA that fulfills the above rules (or if no AKA does that),
- the highest AKA address will be used.

- Requirements
-
- PSWMSG uses some of FrontDoors system files to find the
- information it needs. It searches for SETUP.FD in the directory
- that the environment variable FD points to, or if it isn't
- defined, in the current directory. PSWMSG also uses FrontDoor's
- PASSWORD.FD file in the system directory.
-
- This programs requires FD 2.01 or later. It should work with
- earlier versions too, except the fact that it uses the file
- SETUP.FD, which was introduced in 2.01. To use PSWMSG with an
- earlier version, just copy FD.SYS to SETUP.FD.
-
-
- Domains
-
- Please remember that the domains mentioned above only exists
- in FD 2.00 and later. If you're using an earlier version of
- FD, PswMsg should work anyway, with the exception of the
- use of domains mentioned above.
