  6.      Please note that this is the condensed version (for SDS
  7. distribution), and only contains those files that are special to P&c.
  8. You must get the following files in addition to the P&c archive:

  10.   BNU170.ARJ        BNU:              The Fossil driver
  11. VIBM_110.ZIP        VIBM:             The Video driver
  12. BTEXE250.LZH        BinkleyTerm(tm):  The Mailer

  16.      These files can be found on SDS, as well as most larger BBS's.
  17.      A _complete_ version is also available.  Check around for it.

  30.      You will need a computer.  This computer should ideally have a
  31. harddrive in it.  If it doesn't then you need to do some work with the
  32. configuration files, and use the /o attribute on Config-4D.
  33.  
  34.      You will need about 535k of available memory (to run all programs
  35. plus shells, but if you like, you can read the docs and figure out how
  36. to make it run in less).  It _can_ be done in less, it just requires
  37. tweaking.
  38.  
  39.      You should also ideally have a modem.  This makes communications
  40. easier. Or alternatively, you could shout your tones REAL loud.

  42. Docs for Impatient People

  45. 1.  Create a directory on C: called POINT.
  46. 2.  Unarchive all the files from the BNU, GOLD, BT, VIBM, and Squish
  47.      archives into the POINT directory.
  48. 3.  Unarchive all of the files from the P&c distribution archive into
  49.      that directory as well, overwriting the default files.
  50. 4.  Sit down and relax. (And drink your coke)

  53. To POLL BossNODE:           POLL.BAT
  54. To run the message editor:  GOLD.BAT

  61. Using other Support Files / Doing Without

  64.      You can do without the VIBM file.  If you can't find it, and can
  65. stand to see BT run in black and white, comment out the appropriate
  66. lines in the POLL.Bat file.

  68.      You could conceivably use a Fossil other than BNU, but I don't
  69. recommend it.  David has done an amazing job.  If you can't find it, and
  70. must use another, change POLL.Bat to reflect this.

  72.      You must use Binkley, and Squish.  That's all there is to it. :-)
  73. (But if you complain loud enough, I might put FrontDoor<tm> support
  74. in... <hint, hint>.

  76. A Word About Printing...

  79.      These docs were written using QEDit v2.10 with a wordwrap margin of
  80. 72 a leftprintmargin of 5 and a pagelength setting of 58.  (Hence the
  81. cute 'Page xx' statements at exactly the right places)  There is a print
  82. utility included (called LPR.Com)  I wrote this version a while back, so
  83. it doesn't include support for some printers.  If the docs don't print
  84. on your printer, try playing with the CR/LF switch, or load up your
  85. favourite text editor, set the margins, and print.

  91. the gender neutral 'he', 'him', and 'his' to refer to the third person.
