- WHAT'S NEW in Mail Manager v3.11 - August 25, 1993
- ==================================================
-
- CHANGE IN SUPPORT STATUS
- ------------------------
-
- Although this change was made with the PREVIOUS release (v3.10), it
- is still recent enough that we should probably mention it here.
-
- Personal commitments are forcing Chip Morrow to lessen his involvement
- somewhat in the development of the Mail Manager projects, and to shut
- down Mail Manager's home support bulletin board. The lion's share of
- Mail Manager development is being carried forward by the other half of
- the team, Doug Wilson, under the new banner of Makai Software. Both
- Chip and Doug will continue to provide program support.
-
- The following RBBS-PC boards are now the official Makai Software
- Distribution Sites. First time callers may bypass new user
- registration hassles and download Mail Manager, MNET, and other Makai
- Software files by logging on with the username and password
- combinations listed for each board:
-
- Board: BRODMANN'S PLACE THE DOG HOUSE
- Location: Waldorf, MD Kings Beach, CA
- Sysop: Dave Brodmann Kip Gies
- Phone: 301-843-5732 916-546-7002
- Modem: HST/v.32bis v.32bis
- Username: FREE GUEST MAILMGR LATEST
- Password: USER VERSION
- Net Address: Fido 1:109/806 RBBS 8:919/20
- Rime ->BRODMANN
-
- In addition, a local (to us) BBS that we check into on a near-daily
- basis is:
-
- THE MOTHER BOARD (WildCat!)
- Buckeye Lake, OH
- Michael Graham, Sysop
- Data line: 614-928-2259
- Modem: HST/v.32bis
- Fido: 1:226/1400 (*NOT* reachable via Internet)
-
- We check into all of these boards on a regular (but not necessarily
- daily) basis, and will answer questions left on or netmailed to any
- of them. The Mother Board, being a local call for us, gets the most
- attention and is probably the place to get the fastest response.
- Please leave messages as PUBLIC so that whichever of us calls first
- will be able to see them. The sysops of the two Distribution Boards
- are both experienced with Mail Manager, and may be able to handle some
- of your questions without help from Chip or me.
-
- Computer network conferences:
-
- We also monitor the following computer network conferences. If you
- don't have access to Fido netmail, these may be your best bet for
- obtaining support in a timely fashion:
-
- RIME: RBBS-PC and RBBSQWK
- FIDO: RBBS-PC and OFFLINE
-
- Chip Morrow is also available via Compuserve, Internet, and Prodigy,
- if any of those are more convenient:
-
- CIS: 72677,502
- Prodigy: GVHM95A
- Internet: 72677.502@compuserve.com
-
- And then, if you're REALLY desperate, there's always the U.S. Mail:
-
- Makai Software
- 870 Golden Drive
- Newark, OH 43055
-
-
- SO, WHAT ELSE IS NEW?
- ---------------------
-
- MAIL MANAGER +PLUS+ v3.11 is an update to the version 3 series.
-
- Changes since the release of v3.10:
-
- 1) Fixed bug which required pressing "Q" or <enter> multiple times
- when attempting to exit message pointer setting screens under
- some conditions.
-
- 2) Violation notice prints name of intended conference as well as
- conference number.
-
- 3) No longer goes thru countdown timer before exiting from export
- mode (/o command line option).
-
- 4) Updated MAILCFG.EXE, CFG2TXT.EXE, and TXT2CFG.EXE to implement
- sysop configurable "show empty conferences" choice are included
- this time (versions included with v3.10 failed to support this
- option).
-
- 5) Updated to be 4D point aware for *.MSG netmail areas. Also
- supports "fakenet" addressing. MAILCFG, CFG2TXT, and TXT2CFG
- all updated accordingly.
-
- 6) When following the prompts and posting *.MSG netmail messages,
- now accepts input for destination address ONLY in the following
- format:
-
- Zone:Net/Node[.Point]
-
- All previous versions prompted you separately for Zone, Net,
- and node. Crashmail addressed to a point is sent to that
- system's host (.0). The host's software then takes care of
- routing the message off to the individual point on his system.
- Normal *.MSG netmail messages addressed to a point are handled
- by your Fido scan/pack software in whatever way you have
- configured it.
-
- 7) [F1] help added to MAILCFG conference edit screen.
-
- 8) Non-selected conferences not shown when choosing conference in
- which to R)ead or P)ost.
-
- 9) Now shows zone in netmail conferences when reading netmail
- *.MSG areas online within the door.
-
- 10) R)ead and P)ost options now only work with joined conferences.
-
- 11) New command line switch (/Snnnn) added to MAILFIX utility,
- to allow sysops with modified versions of RBBS-PC to use
- MAILFIX on messages bases that contain more than 999 msgs.
-
- See the HISTORY.DOC file for the complete list of changes since the
- v1.3x series.
