- United States and Canada's Adult Echomail Network!
-
-
- Network Policy
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
- Like everyone else, we're not particularly fond of rules, but in
- this case there are certain rules that we feel LuvNet systems should follow.
- Following are the bylaws we have begun the network with, updates to these
- bylaws will be made as necessary.
-
- 1. All LuvNet member systems MUST display somewhere in their opening
- logon screen the fact that they are associated with the LuvNet. This can
- be as large (A full screen) or as small (Simply stating your LuvNet address)
- as each sysop sees fit.
-
- 2. All LuvNet member systems MUST make the introductory LuvNet
- distribution archive (LUVNET.ZIP, This File) accessible to all users for a
- period of not less than 90 days. Preferably this should be a 'Free'
- download to users, however that decision will be left with the sysop of each
- node. Those running a Fido-Compatible mailer, should also have this file
- available for File-Request under the magic name LUVNET.
-
- 3. All LuvNet member systems MUST carry the Administration Echo
- (LV_ADMIN) as this is our priority method for Administration of the network.
- This echo shall remain confidential to the Sysop's of each node and under no
- circumstances should any users other than the System Operator of each Node
- have access to this echo.
- In addition, the General Conversation Echo (LV_GENERAL) and LuvNet
- Echo for testing purposes (LV_TEST) MUST be carried by all member systems.
-
- 4. All LuvNet HUB systems MUST either carry all of the LuvNet echo's
- or make them available to their nodes in some way (ie:Passthru). But, then
- again, we must be flexible about that, since you are paying for it...:)...
- We feel this is not an unreasonable request to make of our HUBs,
- however, should the network grow in extreme size and number of conferences
- available, this bylaw may be revised. All other member systems may carry
- any or all conferences at their own discretion.
-
- 5. Suggestions for additional echo areas are always welcome, however,
- any and all additions to the network, must first be approved by the network
- administration staff (Vin Kaye, Lin Davis and Terry Waldrum).
-
- 6. Due to the rapid growth of the network, Network Hosts for each
- particular area may honor node requests from systems in their area. Each
- network host will be responsible for submitting an update file whenever
- changes are made to their area. Submittal files should arrive no later than
- 5:00pm on Thursday of each week for inclusion in the current week's nodelist
- update. The submittal file should follow the conventional naming sequence
- of HOST###.UPD.
-
- 7. Due to the nature of the Network, it is required that all system
- operators be at or above the age of 18. It is the responsibility of each
- sysop to ensure that the users of their system with access to the network
- conferences are also 18 or older. This minimum age restriction may vary
- depending on the State/Province in which you reside. Eg: If the accepted
- legal age in your State/Province is 21, then you must be at least 21 years
- of age to gain access to the network. Violation of this bylaw is cause for
- immediate removal from the network.
-
- 7.1 At the bottom of the application form there is a waiver that must
- be signed in Ink. Please read the waiver carefully so that you are fully
- aware of what you are signing. Your signature on this waiver is mandatory
- and failure to sign will result in the immediate rejection of your
- application.
-
- 7.2 In the event a System Operator allows minors into the network
- conferences and/or provides us with false information to cover their own
- violation of this bylaw, LuvNet, it's Administration staff and/or VAKtron
- Computer Scapes can NOT be held in any way responsible should legal action
- be taken against the System Operator by an outside party.
-
- 8. Be Nice. We are all Loving and Caring Adults and as such you are
- expected to conduct yourself in an appropriate manner. Anyone found to be
- excessively annoying, with the exception of the Flame & Bitch Conference
- will be removed from the network, whether they be an individual user, or a
- system operator. These decisions will be made by the administration staff.
-
- Warnings will be given only once, failure to comply with a warning, will
- result in removal from the network. Should a sysop be asked to remove a
- users access by the administration, failure to comply with such a request
- can and will result in the termination of that sysop's feed to the network.
- Above all else, common sense prevails.
-
- 9. Questions as to the use of an Alias as opposed to users real names
- in the network has arisen. It is the decision of the Administration Staff,
- that the use of an alias is acceptable providing each system displays their
- node address in the origin/tag line portion of each message. It will be up
- to each individual node to decide whether or not they wish their users to
- use an alias. For now, real names and aliases are both welcome in the
- LuvNet.
-
- NOTE: The Network Administration Conference (LV_ADMIN) is the one
- exception to this rule. All system operators MUST use their
- REAL name in the Administration conference. There will be
- NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule. Failure to comply will result in
- the loss of your Node number and future access to the network.
-
- 10. Please attempt to keep messages on Topic, and although this is
- a bilingual country, the Network is not, thus all messages should be written
- in English. The administration staff will monitor the message areas and send
- warnings to individuals as they see fit. Should any user continually
- disregard these warnings, we may ask the sysop of that node to remove that
- users access to the network. Failure to comply with a request of this nature
- may result in the loss of your network feed.
-
- NOTE: Please refrain from using any other names to address your fellow sysops
- or your BBS callers other than their user names or alias when writing
- or replying to the messages; preferred addressing format in message
- headings would be:
- __________________________________________________________
- Hello (Hi) Jack (or Jill)! Or Dear Jack (or Jill)...MANDATORY!
-
- Just would like to inform you, that we are hooked up
- to the LuvNet...Thanks for all your help!
-
- Best regards,
-
- Jill...MANDATORY!
-
-
-
- TearLine - Optional
- Origin: Name of BBS, LuvNet, Location (Zone:Net/Node) - Min Required.
- _____________________________________________________________
- You may interchange Name and LuvNet at your option!
- Max characters (including spaces) for the TearLine - 35.
- Max characters (including spaces) for the Origin: - 75.
-
- 11. BBS Ads are NOT, under any circumstances, permitted in any of the
- network conferences. Please instruct all users of your system to refrain
- from posting these adsin the network. Warnings will be sent to anyone found
- to be in violation of this Bylaw. Unheeded warnings may result in the loss
- of that user and/or System's access to the network.
-
- 12. Messages in all network conferences should be flagged as Public.
-
- 12.1 A number of us allow our users access to Netmail. It has been the
- decision of the majority of systems currently participating in the network
- to allow routed netmail messages so that our users have access to a 'Private'
- message function. If your system is set up properly, you should be able to
- route Netmail messages throughout the network in the same mannerthat normal
- echomail messages are routed. If you require assistance in setting up your
- mailer to handle routed netmail.
-
- 13. Unlike some other networks which forbid commercial ads in their Buy
- & Sell echos, LuvNet welcomes both commercial and private sale ads in the
- Buy & Sell conference. These ads should not, however, contain only an ad
- for a Pay BBS. (See Bylaw #10)
