  13. Man.... Did I get bored reading the same ole' serious echos over and over 
  14. again. I mean, they're informative and all, but too many rules, I was almost
  15. scared to post in an echomail area for fear of having a SysOp get pissed off
  16. at me and remove me from his system... I noticed, after calling some "non-echo"
  17. boards across the country, that there were ALOT of SysOps out there with a
  18. decent sense of humor and could relax and just bullshit with the users in the 
  19. mail areas. It got to the point where I was calling long distance and going 
  20. through the message areas like once a week and posting close to 60 messages on 
  21. each board. You can imagine how costly that could be. So I thought to myself,
  22. "There's got to be an easier way to reach all the new friends I've made and 
  23. not have to spend so much money." Sooooo.... The Slimer, The Wizard, and Myself
  24. thought "Why not make our own network and not have so many rules?". So we did
  25. and here it is.... ChAoSnet!

  28. Basically this net is similar in structure to Fido-Net, BUT, ChAoSnet
  29. (us being the fun loving people we are) has "non-serious echos". What I 
  30. mean by "non-serious" is, you can post WHATEVER you want in these echos 
  31. within reason... I mean, we don't really wanna get shutdown due to illegal
  32. reasons. If we get shut down, we want it to be for perversity. Heh!

  34. The only rules we need are the following:
  35.  
  36. 1) No talking about PIRATING, HACKING, PHEAKING, or ANYTHING in that context.
  37.    it only causes problems and we DO NOT promote that.
  38.  
  39. 2) The SysOp of the board the echo is carried on MUST be responsible enough
  40.    to recognise a problem in their echo and deal with it. We are not dealing
  41.    with YOUR problems, we are trying to make a FUN network.
  42.  
  43. 3) "BORINGNET" (AHEM) topics are NOT to be discussed in the non-serious echos.
  44.    This defeats the whole damn purpose behind what we are doing. We will have 
  45.    help echos, but the non-serious echos are for "fun and games", please keep
  46.    them that way.

  48. 4) This network, in NO WAY, is going to support long-distance quarreling as 
  49.    this is the quickest way to ruin an echo. Not to mention the fact that no
  50.    one wants to hear people argue. If you must fight, GO JOIN THE ARMY!

  53.     Do you believe it? Those are all the rules... THAT'S IT! Handles are
  54. allowed, cussing, bullshitting, sexual references, you may say "BIG HARD DISK" 
  55. without fear of being removed from the echo (you may end up with a shitload of
  56. smartass responses tho....). So hopefully, with good SysOp support on the hubs,
  57. we should have a good thing going here.

  63. 2) National SysOp Underground - For SysOps Only To Band Together And Discuss
  64.     Topics On A National Level (ALL SYSOP ARE ALLOWED REGARDLESS OF THE
  65.     SOFTWARE THEY ARE RUNNING).
  66. 3) DesQview Support - Again, Support - Not Bitching!
  67. 4) Bullshit Echos - There Are Echos For Just Basic Bullshitting And Sexually
  68.     Harassing The Entire Network!

  70.     Any other ideas (seeing as how this is a relativly new network) can be
  71. sent to the SysOp of board carrying the network to review the idea, at that 
  72. point, it's up to him\her to decide if the idea is one that could or should be
  73. included in the network. At that point, please submit this idea in the National
  74. SysOp Underground Echo and it will be reviewed by The Slimer or Slammin' for 
  75. implementation into the network. Hey, what can I say? We're open minded folks!

  81. What it takes to join into ChAoSnet is rather simple.  Once you have
  82. decided to carry the network, all you have to do is send Net Mail to
  83. your nearest Hub or you can go straight to the top and send to ChAoSnet
  84. HeadQuarters (we're not picky - snicker).

  86. In there include your;
  87. 1)Handle          
  88. 2)Exact BBS Name
  89. 3)Real Name 
  90. 4)Modem speed (i.e. HST,V32b,V42b,MNP, or 2400)
  91. 5)City, State
  92. 6)Voice Phone #
  93. 7)BBS Phone #
  94. 8)Preference for a 3 digit Node Number (i.e. 1:???/000, you can select the 000)
  95. 9)And The Best Thing You Can Think Up That Will Give Us A Good Laugh!

  97. In a few days, we will net you your node number and information on what to
  98. do next!  On the following Friday, you will be included in the Nodelist
  99. (called CASLIST.###) and you'll be cruisin'!!!

  101. The Guidelines are rather easy.  You must have a ChAoSnet compatible Front
  102. End up and running (i.e FrontDoor, D'Brigde, Binkey... you know) have your
  103. modem answering the phone 24 hours a day (in other words, NO part time BBS's),
  104. and have had the board up and running for the last 90 days.  This isn't to
  105. exclude anyone, it's just to insure the quality of the Net.  Lastly, you must
  106. agree to be responsible for the people you allow post (See The Above Rules).
