- **NOTICE**
-
- I have taken the file ARJLHA.ZIP that was released by Cam Debuck, and made
- a little improvement for those of you that use Cam-Mail to get large mail
- packets and can utilize the v.42bis compression of your modem. Those of
- you that move mail via QWK/REP mail networks should really like this one as
- well, since it takes less time, and allows faster transfer speeds on mail
- transfers.
-
- With both me & my HUB locked in at 57600, and no compression used at all,
- our 16.8k HST/DS modems can achieve speeds over 5100cps! Even if PKZip had
- the ability to compress files at 2:1 compression (it's LESS), that would put
- my transfer speed of a compressed file somewhere at 2550cps, which just will
- never happen. Although it doesn't hit the advertized 4:1 compression ratio,
- v.42bis can still beat any of the archivers, ...and here's the good part, you
- don't have to wait for the mail to get compressed!! Just follow the simple
- instructions, and if you have any questions about the batch files CAMZIPN.BAT
- and CAMUZIPN.BAT, I can be reached in the BBS Software conference on RIME, or
- call 1-803-824-0070 at the Arc's & Sparcs BBS.
-
- On a final note -- I have re-written the ZIP command line to conform to the
- new release of PKZip v2.04c for optimum performance.
-
- Ciao!

- Documentation on how to setup ARJ and LHA for the Cam-Mail Door
-
- Change to your CAM-MAIL Directory.
-
- In order to setup other compressions for your callers, you will need to run
- CMSETUP.EXE. Select option "B) Compression". The following screen will pop
- up, but most likely you won't have ARJ and LHA configured. Use the screen
- below to configure these two archivers:
-

-
- Next, you will need to run MKCAMTXT.EXE. Press the F3 key and enter
- record #101. Change "ZIP Successful" to "Compression Successful". Hit the
- F3 key again and enter record #102. Change "Zip Failed" to "Compression
- Failed". Exit the program and go back to DOS.
-
- Next, you will need to put these files in your CAM-MAIL directory (Which
- should of been supplied with this documentation in the original ARJLHA.ZIP):
-
- CAMZIPJ.BAT
- CAMZIPL.BAT
- CAMZIPN.BAT <-- No Compression
- CAMUZIPJ.BAT
- CAMUZIPL.BAT
- CAMUZIPN.BAT <-- No Compression
-
- After you have put these files in your CAM-MAIL Directory, type this
- command at the DOS prompt:
-
- ATTRIB +r *.BAT
-
- This will make all of your Batch files READ-ONLY. This is very important
- if you are running a multi-node system.
-
- The final step is to copy the ARCHIVE file into your CAM-MAIL\HELP
- directory (As defined in CMSETUP "E Misc Paths" under Path to HELP directory).
-
- One very important note. Make sure you have a copy of ARJ.EXE and LHA.EXE
- in your PATH somewhere, otherwise the protocols will never work.
-
- If you have any problems, please don't hesitate to give us a call:
-
- BBS 801-489-3558 [HST 1440]
- VOICE 801-489-4878 [M-F 9-5, Sat 9-12]
-
- Enjoy and have fun (And thank you for selecting Cam-Mail as your QWK/REP
- Mail Door).
