  3. This directory contains several supplementary files for network users:

  5. SETUP.DOC (text)
  6.   Detailed information about setting up your PC for networking: boards,
  7.   interface standards, drivers and shims, interrupts, memory management,
  8.   Windows, etc.
  9.  
  10. PKTADDR.COM, PKTADDR.DOC
  11.   From the Crynwr packet-driver collection.  Tells you the hardware address of
  12.   your network adapter if you have an Ethernet-class packet driver loaded for
  13.   it.  Read PKTADDR.DOC for details.
  14.  
  15. SLIP8250.COM, SLIP8250.DOC
  16.   SLIP (serial-line IP) packet driver that works with Kermit and most other
  17.   TCP/IP applications that support a SLIP-class packet driver.  Read
  18.   SLIP8250.DOC for details.  Obtain other packet drivers separately from
  19.   your network board vendor, from Cyrnwr Software, or from Columbia University.

  21. WINPKT.COM, WINPKT9.COM, WINPKT.DOC
  22.   A shim to allow packet-driver applications (such as MS-DOS Kermit, when its
  23.   TCP/IP stack is active) to run under Windows and still use the network.

  25. DIS_PKT9.DOS, DIS_PKT9.DOC
  26.   A shim to allow packet-driver applications to run over an NDIS network
  27.   board driver.

  29. ODIPKT.COM, ODIPKTPN.COM, ODIPKT.DOC
  30.   A shim to make an ODI driver look like a packet driver, for when Kermit
  31.   is running under Windows and needs to make ODI connection, to be used
  32.   in conjunction with WINPKT.
