-
- NetRunner is a BBS Door game by Rob Jacob, based on the CyberPunk
- culture as described the novel "Neuromancer" by William Gibson and
- the game "ShadowRun" by FASA.
-
- It's a classic BBS door game from the early 1990s. I recently posted
- a note about Rob vanishing on my web site, and he happed to read it
- and he contacted me and let me know hes alive and well. He has allowed
- me to distribute the keygen to the public, as freeware.
-
- Rob is currently re-writing the game for the web. Due to another
- product now using the name "NetRunner", he is changing the name to
- MatrixRunner. It's still in the early development stages, but you can
- see it at: http://www.hobbydo.com/matrixrunner/
-
- How to use the Key Generator:
- =============================
-
- When you run ENCODE.EXE you will first be prompted for a serial number.
- This can be any number you like, below 65536.
- When you press enter, the prompt will move to a blank line. This is
- the line where you enter the name you want it registered to, such as
- the name of your BBS. Then it will spit out two codes, like so:
-
- C:\>encode
- Enter serial #: 1
- CYBERPUNK
- Enter bbsname: s=54390
- Code number = 226110
-
- Note that all I typed in was "1" <enter> and "CYBERPUNK" <enter>.
- The last two lines were displayed by the key generator.
-
- The only two numbers you need are the Serial Number, and the code
- number. You do NOT need the number that starts with "S=".
-
- Next you will need to edit the first three lines of your
- netrun.cfg file with the following info:
-
- Line 1: Code Number
- Line 2: Serial Number
- Line 3: Name its registered to
-
- For example, here are the first three lines for registering it
- as serial number 1, registered to "CYBERPUNK":
-
- 226110
- 1
- CYBERPUNK
-
- Thats it... If you were able to follow thise instructions you now
- have a registered version of NetRunner. Enjoy!

- How to run NetRunner with a FOSSIL driver:
- ==========================================
-
- The docs left out a very important piece of info: how to make the
- door run with a FOSSIL driver.
-
- To use a FOSSIL driver, you need to add the "PORT:F:1" switch,
- replacing the "1" with the actual COM port you wish to use.
-
- For example:
- NETRUN C:\bbs\node%1\DOOR.SYS PORT:F:1
-
- The "F" tells it to use the FOSSIL driver, the "1" means COM1.
-
-
- NetRunner has been tested with NetFoss (A Telnet FOSSIL driver)
